Football is a game for the intelligentsia, because it requires actual thought about tactics and technique to manufacture a goal rather than relying on individual skill of a couple of players. As Molly Meldrum says, do yourself a favour and watch the game between Brisbane and Adelaide today - should be a cracker.

Now watch it be a fizzer. It's always the way.

Brisbane 1-0 up against the Reds at half time very unlucky not to be 2 up with a goal going over but not being called.

Shades of England-Germany in the 2010 World Cup with that goal. Except the strike from Gerrard (I believe it was him) was more like 3 meters over the line instead of one.

Watching European soccer then what our league is like chalk and cheese, and until our standard is at that same level, then boys will play it and talk about it then dream of making it to the big league which is equivalent to those European leagues.

Our top level league is only springboard for our players to maybe be picked up by a club who pays better money, and that can be our Asian partners up north. It's the SANFL level would be a good example.

Of course it is. But for a league that is ten years old the standard is good enough. It'll never be the EPL/La Liga/Bundesliga standard.

The highest standard the A-League can hope to achieve is to the point where the best players transfer straight from the league into those top tiers rather than going to championship clubs. But that's a long way off.

Our standards are not good enough!! Not enough to get me to game.

We were on track in 2006, but we lost our way from there. The year after till now is from that success.

FFA need to boost our quality of soccer entertainment by introducing players who are on the fringe of selection in countries from South America. We need to become more proactive than wait another 10 years.

Three more absolute minnows with a chance of a major trophy this year.

Will we ever get our shit together?

The St Kilda of the EPL. If the club was as ambitious as the fans are fanatical they would rule the world!

Dodge relegation, maybe sneak into top 10, stay economically viable. That seems to be the triple bottom line at the Toon.

Cant believe the FFA player wasnt red carded. On a yellow card, went off his line to sholder check Feriera was it... should have seen red!!!!

Scrappy game, but coming away with a draw was a reasonable result. Can't believe there was no red for the elbow on Ferreira - the only explanation I can think of is no official saw it at all.

We looked much more assured with Djite offering a target compared to last week.
