Refs seem to only want to use the video if they can get someone sent off, they're not interested in it if it's going to show that they have been conned into sending off a player for a Melbourne Victory dive.

Looks like Australian soccer fascination with Clockwork Orange, thanks diegodcg for the phrase, continues.

A Dutch/European/Chinese consortium has bought Adelaide United. Lockhart Road FYI Chinese/Qingdao/Shangdong/Hong Kong connections as well Dutch and European. From SBS
A-League club Adelaide United have been sold to a European-based consortium for an undisclosed sum
The Netherlands-based consortium has bought the club from its South Australian owners including Robert Gerard, who had been a 30 per cent stakeholder. "It's mainly Dutch people ... they do own football clubs and they wanted to grow their little group of clubs," Gerard said on Wednesday on radio FIVEaa. The consortium owned other clubs in Holland, France and China, he said. Football Federation Australia (FFA) on Wednesday ratified the sale. Gerard had owned a 30 per cent stake in United with the club's chairman Greg Griffin, while Richard Noble and Bruno Marveggio had each had 20 per cent............Gerard refused to disclose what the European consortium paid for the club but said his fellow SA owners "would all have smiles on their faces, much more than they ever thought was going to happen".

Yesterday the Advertiser were reporting it as Chinese buyers

Sources have claimed the Chinese consortium have agreed to deposit about $15 million in Adelaide United’s bank account on Wednesday as part of ongoing negotiations. A principal negotiator for the Chinese investors who is based in the Shandong province and in Europe was in Adelaide last week after Griffin on Friday confirmed a group had approached SA business icon Gerard for the club’s sale.

But after Gerard's announcement today on 5AA the Tsier got the nationality of the consortium right.
FFA ratifies Adelaide United sale to investors led by Dutchman Piet van der Pol — president of China’s Qingdao Reds Lions
DUTCHMAN Piet van der Polpresident of China’s Qingdao Reds Lions based in Shandong province — has led the chase to buy Adelaide United. The sale was concluded and ratified by Football Federation Australia this afternoon. Van der Pol’s partner at the Chinese club, which is currently in the nation’s fourth-tier soccer league, was named in 2016 as Bruno Marveggio. Marveggio owned a 25 per cent stake in Adelaide United before the sale. Van der Pol became director of the new Australian Football Opportunities — a company which has its address and another director listed in Adelaide — on February 26.

The new Adelaide consortium consists predominantly of European businessmen investing in Europe, Asia and Australia, with a company office in Hong Kong. FFA chairman Steven Lowy and the FFA board perused the documents and discussed whether the consortium met the governing body’s club participation agreement before rubber-stamping the deal. “FFA has consented to the change in ownership structure of AUFC (Adelaide),’’ said an FFA spokesman. The finer details of Adelaide United’s current consortium being sold to the investors came together on Wednesday at a 2pm meeting at an unknown location in Adelaide. Adelaide officials on Wednesday started clearing out some office space at the club’s Hindmarsh headquarters. The previous Reds consortium, which took ownership of the club in 2010, sold the club for a sum believed to be $12 million which was deposited in the former Adelaide United owner’s bank account.....

Rob Gerard on selling Adelaide United. He makes some big sweeping statements at the end around the Comm Games when talking about the need for a rectangle statement. Reckons the feds paid for most of the Olympics. They put $150m into them to build venues and $97m of grants to the Sydney Olympic Organising Committe and the Sydney Paralympic Organising Committee to help them run the events. He woffles on that the feds paid for everything at 2006 Melb Comm games which is bullshit and who knows if his figures about the Gold Coast is right.

I've read one at "The Roar" that some AFL authority would have said that, his argument goes, the atmosphere in soccer games are great because the game is bad — hence, people need to compensate for it from the outside.

I laughed...

You getting nervous/excited Prison Bars ?

Bloody Warnock doing his thing again (putting sides into the promotion race) Can’t stand the guy but he gets results.

interesting couple of results - Man United 0, West Brom 1 at Old Trafford no less and Newcastle 2, Arsenal 1. Could have got some pretty long odds for that double.
West Brom are still bottom and will likely finish bottom or certainly be relegated but Newcastle have done themselves a lot with this late surge. At the start of winning 4 in a row they were 18th and would have been paid 6 million pounds for that. Now they are 10th with a chance for 8th at best which means 22-26 million pounds. And with just 5 games to go they would be hopeful that at the worst they may drop 2 places, which would take them to about 18 million. The television fee may not change as the number of times a game is televised goes on the popularity of the club. Outside of the big 6, Newcastle is 3rd most popular and should get 19.6 million from TV in 2017/18. A high finish can only help that.

First the Matilda's qualified for the world cup by making the Asian cup semis then overnight they beat Thailand in a penalty shoot out to make the final against Japan. 3rd Asian Cup final in a row the Matilda's have made. I'm sure some Asian nations still aren't happy we were allowed into the AFC.

GremioPower and diegodcg did this goal from 1 of the 2 A League semi finals played on the weekend make it on to TV screens in your part of the world??

Gee Kevin Muscat is a piece of work isn’t he? Just unintentionally read his post A-League semi final comments, was reminded of his long prior record of on and off field campaignery.

Remind me to kick him in the shins, metaphorically speaking of course, if I ever meet the campaigner.
