Coming down to the end of the UK season and up the top most things have been decided. European qualification places except for the FA cup winner have been filled and it only remains to see who qualifies direct for the group stage, who goes into the play-off and who goes into the Europa cup. The first two relegation places are pretty much decided but the third is still up in the air. Stoke on 30 points have 1 game left and even if they win will still go down as they will still be behind the 3rd and 4th from bottom teams on goal difference. West Brom on 31 have given themselves a chance with consecutive wins over Newcastle and Tottenham but they need to win and hope that one of Swansea or Southampton has two losses. Or they can go above Swansea if the Southampton v Swansea game is a draw and then Swansea lose their last game to Stoke. Again, pretty unlikely and the bottom three looks like it will be Stoke, West Brom and one of Southampton or Swansea. Southampton have Swansea and Man City to finish while Swansea have Southampton and Stoke.
There is one other possibility; Huddersfield has 36 points but an inferior goal difference to Southampton and Swansea. Huddersfield plays Arsenal and Chelsea and if they lose both and Southampton beat Swansea and Swansea beat Stoke then Huddersfield go down.

Spurs are in danger of losing their Champions League spot to Chelsea - they're only 2 points ahead of Chelsea now and both teams have 2 games to play. Spurs play Newcastle and Leicester, both at Wembley, while Chelsea have Huddersfield at home and Newcastle away. Spurs are 9 goals to the good of Chelsea on goal difference, so a win and a draw would probably be enough to stay 4th unless Chelsea have 2 huge wins.

Most likely outcome given it's Spurs is that they'll win one and lose one and Chelski will pip them by one ******* point :p

I noticed that possibility, overall entry to Europe in the first 5 places has been decided. How that falls could change. Another possibility is that Chelsea could finish 5th and win the FA cup. In that case they would qualify for the Europa league group stage and the play-off position they would have taken would be awarded to the 6th-placed team, who would be Arsenal.

All is explained here - Arsenal are already guaranteed for the group stage of the Europa League, while Burnley have to go through the qualification stage. Burnley have been handed that spot due to Man City winning the League (Carabao) Cup and already being qualified for the Champions League.

With Southampton's win over Swansea Stoke and West Brom are relegated. West Brom would have had a chance of staying up if the game had been a draw but now that the two teams above the relegation zone have 36 points they are gone.
With an advantage of 3 points and a goal difference 9 better than Swansea Southampton are safe barring a movement in the space-time continuum. The battle is between Swansea, who have 33 points and play Stoke and Huddersfield who have 36 points and play Chelsea and Arsenal. Swansea's form is very bad with 1 point from their last 5 games

The Scampaignerhorpe v Rotherham game has been entertaining.

FA Cup kicks off in about an hour. Not sure if I will stay up to watch it.

It used to be such a big event on the sporting calendar when I was a kid, teenager, young adult but in the last 15 years or so its lost its luster. It used to kick around midnight, maybe 11.30pm and always got together with mates early in the night to go somewhere in time to watch it.

The champions league becoming so big and the fact that now its usually a game between the big 6 to 8 EPL clubs means its lost a lot of its romance.

Bugger the FA Cup when you have the Champs League final next week to look forward to. :D

Loris Karius has received death threats which are being investigated by Liverpool police. Most of them will be from nutters who won't do anything but it only takes one to be serious. And whatever the outcome sports players should not be under this kind of pressure.
Here are the mistakes for those who didn't see the final, I have only seen one worse than the first which was when Gary Sprake of Leeds threw the ball directly into his net, coincidentally that was against Liverpool. Also some twitter responses.

The locals might be pissed if Mets and Yankees games are suspended for the duration.
That won't happen, didn't happen in 1994, won't happen in 2026.

The "New York" games will be at Metlife Stadium, the Giants/Jets NFL stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but it's only 8 miles from Times Square. New York Yankees play in The Bronx, New York Mets play in Queens. So there won't be a stadium clash in any way. Wouldn't surprise me if there's a baseball game during the day, then a World Cup game that night, or vice versa.

The MLB are quite accomodating to other sports. Say, the Cleveland Cavs are in the NBA Finals, Game 7, if there's a Cleveland Indians game scheduled at the same time, they'll usually reschedule to an earlier time slot, like an early afternoon game instead.

Robbie Williams firing up the Ruskies, so we know the real big show kicks off soon.

Wonder if the Ruskie fans are offering the Saudi fans a drink of vodka?

I don't know if its a FIFA promo a or SBS promo showing football fans from around the world coming to Russia, Russian buildings, monuments and lots of cutting back to the Bolshoi Ballet, but its a cracker of an ad.
