**** that was pathetic. How the hell did we let that goal in.
The goalkeeping was appalling. Ryan coming was the correct decision but how he missed the ball has me mystified. And when it came to the ground someone should have at least got a foot to it. Just a big hoof instead of fart-arsing around.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Welcome to the party, fellows. I would love to watch more of your Porto Alegre magic:

In the 2014 group of death we were in we lost 1-3 against Chile. We should have jost 1-2 or drawn 2-2. Chile didn't qualify for this world cup.

Against Netherlands we lost 2-3 but should have drawn 2-2. The Dutch didon't qualify.

Against Spain we lost 0-3. The Spanish qualified easily.. we played well in first have but they were to good. To come home with no points and a 3 goals to 9 record was harsh. 2 pts and 4 goals to 6 or 7 would have been a fair result.

Hopefully we wiI'll get in a group where we have a fair have chance to get to the final 16 stage and maybe luck out and get to the final 8 if it's a relatively equal opponent.

Our group will have 1 of the top 7 ranked teams and Russia drawn from Pot A a Euro team from Pot B and hopefully the other pot we arent in is made up of the 5 African sides and the 3 Concacaf sides and we get Panama or Morocco from that pot.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe (E)FFA have media scouts at AUFC home games & thought they were impressed with his MC’ing so they must’ve got him the gig
Yep the FFA gave him the gig.

It is easy to score when your opponent is checking how to get a Russian visa...
Of course it is but with 30 seconds to go you organise your defence for a corner kick and the bloody goal keeper either grabs the ball from the corner kick or belts it 30m. That pathetic half catch meant the ball fell at the strikers fee and Leckie standing on the goal line should have stopped a simple shot with no power on it.

I believe FIFA will use its rankings, instead of regions for the pots.

Game was over. I wouldn't care much about this. Take it as an act of charity! :)

P.S.: Your keeper is not too tall and lost the jump. That's why he could not catch the ball nor punch it far away.

No unless they change the way they have done this since it was 32 country world cup.

If they go rankings you could have 3 Euro teams in two or more groups which they don't want. You obviously haven't watched the draw before. It will be on in about 4 weeks. Of course as a Brazilian supporter you know you will be in a group you will top so you don't care how it all works.

I am OBSESSED with the draw! :-D

FIFA still forbids three Europeans in a single group, despite of the pots' arrangement. I am just telling you that I have read FIFA changed its way of dividing the teams into the pots:

From that second link

Allocation: All teams will be allocated to pots 1 to 4 based on sporting principles with each pot containing eight teams. This means that the October 2017 edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be used to allocate all qualified teams to the four pots according to their ranking in descending order, with the best seven teams along with hosts Russia in pot 1. The principle of drawing the teams into the groups will remain unchanged. Hence, no teams from the same confederation, with the exception of UEFA, which could have up to two teams in the same group, will be drawn into the same group.

That to me says that nothing has really changed. What might change is that once the teams are allocated to a pot, by confederation, rather than by random draw from that pot, they will be drawn out by ranking.

Or it means that rankings will be used to allocate confederations and their teams so that the pots are equally ranked/weighted after Pot A as that has the top 7 teams and Russia and will rank higher than the other 3 pots.

What does based on sporting principles mean?? To me that means that 2 or more teams from the smaller confederations dont end up in the same group.
