Looking like Germany v Spain/Italy final now that French and Dutch have been knocked out. Can't see the Poms beating the Germans tonight in their 1/4 final.

Apparently Germany didn't make much effort to push for a winner in their final group match against Hungary because they wanted to be on the easier side of the draw in the knock-out series. Good plan if it comes off...

Shit the poms won. I think that is only the 2nd maybe 3rd time they have won a knock out game against Germany at a WC or Euro since 1966 WC final.

Saw some vision of English Supporters attacking Italian supporters leaving the stadium........ worthy of a BAN from the next World Cup?

Don't know what it is with soccer's supporters.... It's just stupid.

This is what is:

Bragging Rights
Passion
Pride

There is a lot of it over the many years of the World Game....

Wouldn't just say, "Soccer Supporters".... its any kind of sporting supporters.

And your point is?

if every club/country was banned from every competition every season for every act of violence (physical or verbal i.e. racist chanting), every competition would be scarce of participation. english hooligans is an easy bit of news, i've seen it spread across the internet in recent days, but how many of those people reacting to it had the same outcry at, say, italian (roma) fans stabbing english (liverpool) fans a couple years back, bashing one into a coma? surely that warrants a ban moreso than an attack with seemingly no significant damage done to any person.

I'm afraid that's the only way to stop this senseless violence, not matter what league or country it is, there is nothing worse than watching a World Cup without your team in it when they should or good enough to be.

FIFA governing body need to action new conditions for all supporters to abide by, if they don't the country must accept the penalty of a ban from the World Cup.

It would only be scarce of participation for one event to have this penalty occur once, and then watch how other supporters behave.

How would you be, if you took your son to the footy? watch this at 2.30 min start there.... (I don't feel that way going to footy game with my son when he was at that same age.)

An in depth look at where some of the money for A League clubs is coming from.

If private companies were being used as fronts for dirty money the Federal Government would be all over it. Maybe they should be looking at who is supplying the money in the A League and setting down some guidelines. The fact that people in Europe, bankrolling a club in far off Australia, would want to remain anonymous is suspicious. Do the Federal and State Governments know who these people are and where the money is coming from? Those anonymous Dutch interests bankrolling Adelaide United might be entirely innocent but surely the Club's supporters should have the right to know who they are.

We think the administration of AFL Clubs smells a bit but when compared to the potential for corruption in a world game it pails to insignificance.

Newcastle United have been bought out by the Saudis and now join the richest of the rich EPL clubs. Maybe they flex their new found muscle and sue Collingwood for violation of their trademark...

The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, is looking for some sportswashing, despite the spin.

Western intelligence agencies believe the crown prince ordered the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018 - which he denies.

PCP Capital chief executive Amanda Staveley will take a seat on Newcastle's board, while Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of PIF, will act as the club's non-executive chairman.

Staveley told BBC sports editor Dan Roan that PCP Capital took concerns over Saudi Arabia's human rights record "very seriously" but reiterated that their partner "is not that Saudi state, it's PIF".

When asked if this was a case of 'sportswashing' by Saudi Arabia, she said: "No, not at all, this is very much about the PIF's investment into a fantastic football team and we look forward to growing the club."

Shows her Aussie rules background. Probably used to practice that with Daniel and Roger in the back yard.
