Unless I take an annual leave day...I will admit when wrong Joe dirt2. Despite being a wog I never actually played the game. Coached my lads primary school team for a couple of years when he was 8 to 10 but had zero idea of the tactics. Got into the game in the late 90s when living in UK but never really loved it like I love footy. Saw a Champions League Arsenal v Dynamo Kiev at a packed old Wembley in 98. Great atmosphere. Bergkamp, Viera, Petit, Adams, Shevchenko... great players.Need to sticky this post![]()

If Tunisia beat France and we draw with Denmark we're done. We're -2 goal diff and will stay there. Tunisia will be 0 goal diff or better.- If Tunisia beat France, Aus would be level with Tunisia (4), behind France (6). Denmark would be eliminated on two points. In this case, it would come down to goal difference (then goals scored, head-to-head records, and so on).
If Oz draw and Tunisia win, Oz are out. Current goal difference is -2 Oz, -1 Tunisia. If the Socceroos beat Denmark, they would certainly progress with six points (two wins and a loss to France). France would be on at least six points.
If the Socceroos draw with Denmark in the final match, once again things would come down to other results. The Socceroos would be on four points.
Then:
- If France beat Tunisia, Aus would be through behind France (9), with Denmark on two points, and Tunisia on one.
- If France and Tunisia draw, Aus would be behind France (7), but ahead of Tunisia (2) and Denmark (2).
- If Tunisia beat France, Aus would be level with Tunisia (4), behind France (6). Denmark would be eliminated on two points. In this case, it would come down to goal difference (then goals scored, head-to-head records, and so on).
If the Socceroos lose to Denmark they will be out of the tournament.
I don't think this is at all how they would feel, but I can't say for sure. I would think that would add spite to the game and both teams would want to win more.If Oz draw and Tunisia win, Oz are out. Current goal difference is -2 Oz, -1 Tunisia.
France should win, but they could rest all starting 11 players and on paper are still better than Tunisia.
But they could lose to Tunisia 0-1. They were Tunisia's colonial rulers from the 1880's to the 1950's, so they would be sympathetic to their cause.
The French cruised in game 3 against Denmark in Russia. Both had qualified, the Oz v Peru game was irrelevant and it was a boring 0-0 draw.I don't think this is at all how they would feel, but I can't say for sure. I would think that would add spite to the game and both teams would want to win more.
Next world cup will be 48 teams. Im guessing they wont have inter confederation play off games like Oz beat Peru and Costa Rica beat NZ for the last 2 places.
My best guess for teams per Confederation;
CONCACAF 3 hosts Canada, USA and Mexico + 4 others =7 here 4
Oceania 1 so NZ assured a WC place here 0
South America 6 - of the 10 nations here 4
Africa 7 here 5
Asia 7 here 6 inc host
Europe 20 here 13.
China's team is normally quite respectableThere will be more in Asia. 60% of the global population live in Asia. More teams from there = bigger viewer numbers = more money. The goal eventually would be for China to be good enough to make it, that would be FIFA's dream.
I think..
