That's no bloody good... Hopefully fresh for later in the tournament then
Good thing is she is the finisher rather than the key play maker, so others get their chance to finish teammates usual good work. Caitlin Ford and co can do that job. Need Sam fit for the big guns though, ie Canada and beyond.

When I saw the line up for today's WWC games I presumed the early game must be in NZ, but no, that's the only game in Aus today, at the 'Melbourne Rectangular Stadium', with the other two being played at Dunedin and Wellington. Even those games will be finished in time for tonite's AFL Blockbuster, so well done Channel Seven! (except they're not showing any of these games today, just a replay of last night's Aus v Ire game)

I assume that is AWST, as below are all local times ie 2nd and 3rd games are in NZ, so adjust by 2 hours for AEST and 4 hours for AWST.

Optus have the main TV/media rights and they have farmed off to 7 what they need to, to get over the anti-siphoning rules and what Football Australia wanted to promote the Matildas. 7+ has limited rights, as I was expecting more stuff on there when I looked last night and today.

In NZ its all on pay TV, Sky Sport as they don't have our type of anti-siphoning rules.

Luis Suarez can go f*ck himself.

Absolutely disrespectful to his own word, the club who hired him, and the fan base that received him as one of their own.

Gonna have to google it

Wants to leave to join up with Messi 🤔 has to be more to it?

Gremio needs to recruit Cam Zurhaar in order to threaten him if he tries to leave.

Either that or buy Gryan Miers with the transfer proceeds.

Timing and pricing.

If it’s in December, no biggie.
If it’s the full fee, no biggie.

Now and trying to go for less, he should be ashamed.

It was Suárez who asked for 2 years. Grêmio had offered him one.

We are currently 3rd in the league and in the Cup semifinals.

If JHF had gone to Port midseason, while North was in a battle for a spot in the Finals, then it would have been somewhat equivalent.

Matildas just jumped into the Billabong...
No doubt due to our stinkley-like minibus in charge. Absolute disgrace by ffa 4 years ago to get rid of Alan Stajcic who was doing a fantastic job. Everyone involved in his sacking should be out of jobs.

Based on FIFA rankings the following sides didn't make the WC

Top 16
15 - Iceland

17th to 32nd
18 - Austria, 19 - Belgium
23 - Scotland, 24 - Russia, 27 - Czechia, 29 - Finland
30 - Wales, 31 - Poland

All 9 teams are in UEFA confederation, as UEFA only had 12 teams that could qualify.

This is how the knockout phase looks, with the group winner being the top team and the 2nd placed in another group being the next team in each game. It was done in such a way that if NZ got out of the group stage they would play in NZ until the WC final or if made playoff for 3rd game, and if Oz got out of the group stage they would play all games in Oz including the final.

If everything went according to rankings, NZ would have finished 3rd in their group which is what happened and Oz would have finished 2nd. The FIFA ranking is before the team named in the games below. Bold teams are the ones that didn't advance past the group stage. Only 4 teams ended up where their rankings suggested - Sweden, Denmark, France and England.

12 Norway (A) v 11 Japan (C)
1 USA (E) v 16 Italy (G)
6 Spain (C) v 20 Switzerland (A)
3 Sweden (G) v 9 Netherlands (E)
===================
7 Canada (B) v 13 Denmark (D)
5 France (F) v 17 Sth Korea (H)
4 England (D) v 10 Australia (B)
2 Germany (H) v 8 Brazil (F)

17th ranked Sth Korea replaces 15th ranked Iceland in final 16 as Iceland didn't qualify and in group D, it had England 4th, Denmark 13th and China 14th so 20th ranked Switzerland effectively replaces China in above games by ranking.

At this stage, only a max 2 of the top 4 ranked teams can make the SFs, as 2nd ranked Germany is out and 3rd Sweden plays 1st USA in a knockout Round of 16 game.

At this stage only a max of 4 of the top 8 ranked teams can make the QFs, as 2nd Germany, 7th Canada and 8th Brazil have been knocked out and 3rd Sweden plays 1st USA in a knockout Round of 16 game.

Some unlikely ranked teams have made it thru to the final 16, and you wouldn't see this many teams do it at the men's world cup;
54th South Africa, 72nd Morocco, 40th Nigeria and 43rd Jamaica

The men's teams ranked outside the top 32 ranked sides in the world, that made the Round of 16 games in last years World Cup, was only one - Australia 38th. In the men's World Cup, there was 6 teams ranked greater than 32, inc host Qatar at 51, that qualified, and for the women's, it was 9 teams.

But that's the beauty of sport, you don't play it on a piece of paper and what the rankings say.
