Carl, Dougies not competiting with either of those guys and you can't drop any of the mids or smalls based on current form. The only hope Dougie has if MacKay is out and even then hopefully Lyons is rewarded.

Look, you can plead all you like, Richard Douglas will be playing AFL football within 3 weeks.

He is too good for SANFL football, Sando rates him and his SANFL form Friday night suggests he will be close to a call up.

If David MacKay passes a fitness test, Douglas will only miss one more before coming back.

I think it's time to bring back Sam Shaw.

Dougie can use another game at Glenelg but he is definitely in our best 22 Carl. I would only play Lyons if we can guarantee him decent minutes.

Once we get to the second half of the season we can consider rotating some players. This is a key part of preparing for a serious run at the premiership.

every player has improved under sando
dont be surprised if dougy plays with a superman cape aswell

As interesting as a transcript regarding Douglas inclusion would be, I think a transcript has to involve neil, and given the dees issues at the moment it could be very entertaining Carl! Carl? Cmon!.you know you want to

Symes is too good for the SANFL too.

If Douglas comes in who goes out? Would have to be out of Mackay, Petrenko, Vince, Wright or Callinan.

I'd prefer all of those guys.

True, but Symes isn't good enough for AFL. Douglas is. That's the difference.

I don't know who will come out but Douglas will be playing AFL. He's not set to stay in the SANFL.

Douglas can handle another week in the SANFL, he's just played for the first time in seven weeks.

In my opinion we should rest a defender or two and look at playing Shaw or Luke Thompson. Both have had decent SANFL form and should have a positive effect on our defensive structure. Smith to stay and play on Sidebottom, perhaps Hendo on Beams? Johncock to take Criminal. Perhaps Smith could be rested for the Freo game, probably would benefit from an extended break after a taxing start to the season (still building his tank I believe).

Awesome that Lyons, Martin, Symes and even Douglas are building pressure on our midfield, can be sure the 22 will leave it all on the park.

Douglas and Symes must come into our defence, to complete the whipping boy set in our back 6 with Doughty, Reilly and Henderson. Can we get Moran back? Drop any of the bambis. :p

(Probably unchanged.)

I'm really forward even more now to Douglas coming back and ripping it up. Douglas, Callinan and Pet's to cut teams up as smalls up forward. Talking of Pet's, I might go and read that huge thead on him again;).

I'd like to see us keep a lid on it now. It was all wonderful after a magnificent win yesterday but we seriously need the guys to know that there's a hell of a lot of football between now and the finals series. Yes, we are 7-1. Yes we have passed 3 of the 5 tests we all thought we'd face prior to the bye. But we must not get ahead of ourselves and consider us a walk up win against ANY of our opponents. To do so would be fool hardy. Enjoy the win, but now lets get ready for the next challenge.

Awesome win from your boys yesterday (better than my wildest hopes the highly inflated Cartoon being the victim :D).

Should be a great game next week.:thumbsu:

I'm thinking that Shaw could replace the Ginger Ninja, assuming he had a good game in the SANFL (and no I haven't bothered checking).

Douglas might get another run in the SANFL to regain a bit more match fitness, but AIOF is right - he'll be back sooner rather than later. Jaensch, Wright & Smith would all be looking nervously over their shoulders. Lets not forget that Pizza Boy missed 5 games prior to his run in the SANFL this weekend - and he also missed most of the MMC as well. A bit of match fitness might earned via the SANFL might be beneficial before he returns to the big time.

I'm not sure what to make of Smith's game yesterday. On the one hand, he had a severe case of the fumbles. First he dropped the easy mark, when the ball was being brought in after a Carlton behind. Then he missed a tackle which (from memory) led directly to a Carlton goal. He also had a severe case of fumbles when handling the ball on other occasions. That's the bad. On the flip side, his opponent (Andrew Walker) had very little impact on the game - he did have 23 disposals, but didn't bother the scorers. On that basis, Smith probably earns a pass mark - but he was well short of the level required for a credit.

Douglas and Symes for pick number one in next years draft? Go on Neil, you know you want too.:D
