Pre JLT I had McGrath in my best 22. However, now, I don't think he is in my side anymore. He hasn't shown a lot to warrant his spot in the side. Sure we've seen bits of what he can bring, that darting pace, strong skills, but few and far between. Give him a few weeks in the VFL and bring him in when he has ready. Only after he has had multiple games where he has performed good enough.

Hey guys, forgive the intrusion. I'm in the middle of an UF draft at the moment and it's towards the end of the draft and i need a forward who will give me hitouts and Mckernan seems like a standout. Has kicked goals consistently when forward and seems to get a lot of the ball around the ground. Just curious as to why Ess fans are so down on him? Also, if one of Belly or Luey gets fit do you see Woosha playing Mckernan a lot of games this year as that guy who rucks 25% then spends the rest of the time up forward? Or do you guys think he'll get a few early games then spend the rest of the year in the VFL? Cheers!

With regards to McKernan, it's really because he's kind of a liability in the ruck (often gives away stupid free's by blocking his opponent, etc.), and inconsistent as hell up forward (his JLT 1 (up forward) and JLT 3 performance (in the ruck) for mine aren't true indicators of what he'll produce regularly, if you want that look no further than his JLT 2 performance in which he was basically useless). Just seems incapable of competing, which puts us on the back foot at every bounce or throw in and ultimately costs us the opportunity to win games.

He's more of a "break glass in case of emergency type", realistically he's barely AFL standard (if at all). Just the fact that our rucks are injury prone and we have no depth in that area means he keeps getting a go. Tbh I see Stewart ahead of him, far more competent in the ruck and for mine more consistent up forward (and given he's only 23 there's much more upside there).

As far as that last bit is concerned for mine he might get some early games if Leuenberger and Bellchambers aren't available, then it'll be back to the VFL for the rest of the year and be one of a few players we'll probably look to move on at the end of the year. For mine that list at this stage could include the following: Howlett (delist/trade), McKernan (delist), Kelly (retire), J.Merrett (delist/trade), Morgan (delist), etc.

Hmmm alright cheers for that.

So are you a Mckernan fan then? Do you have a different view of Mckernans 2017 prospects than WEEVZ?

No idea, I didn't even read his entire post. I wasn't being serious

Assuming Laverde and Luey are injured.

OUT: Luey, Laverde, Brown, Begley, Stewart

IN: Hartley, Hooker, Hocking

Baguley gets a few more chances before being dropped.

Hartley is a must have in and unfortunately Brown is not as dynamic as Ambrose

Stewart makes way for Hooker

One of Hocking, Myers and Bird is needed in the middle and Myer (injured) > Hocking > Bird (IMHO)

Begley obviously isn't ready.

B: Ambrose - Hartley - Dea
HB: Gleeson - Hurley - Goddard
C: Zaharakis - Watson - Parish
HF: Fantasia - Daniher - McDonald-Tipungwufi
F: Stewart - Hooker - Green
R: McKernan - Heppell - Merrett
I/C: Langford - Stanton - Colyer- Hocking

EMG: Baguley - Kelly - Brown

INJ: Leuenberger, Bellchambers, Laverde

HF: Colyer, Stewart, Zaharakis
F: Fantasia, Daniher, Tippa
Foll: McKernan, Heppell, Zerrett
Int: Parish, Brown, Langford, Laverde

Is how I'd roll - however they will probably stick with Baguley ahead of McGrath and possibly one of hocking, bird,Howlett ahead of Laverde. I'd think they'd be conservative with hooker and Hartley given their injury history

Why is Stewart out? There's no way in hell McKernan should ruck solo. We'll have lost the game before we start if we do that, don't be daft!

If Leuey, Laverde and Bellchambers are unavailable for Round 1, then for mine:

B: Ambrose - Hartley - Baguley
HB: Gleeson - Hurley - Kelly
C: Colyer - Watson - Goddard
R: McKernan - Heppell - Z.Merrett
HF: Langford - Daniher - McDonald-Tipungwuti
F: Fantasia - Hooker - Stewart
I/C: Zaharakis - Parish - Stanton - Hocking

Ideal situation for mine would be:
B: Ambrose - Hartley - Baguley
HB: Gleeson - Hurley - Kelly
C: Colyer - Watson - Goddard
R: Leuenberger - Heppell - Z.Merrett
HF: Langford - Daniher - McDonald-Tipungwuti
F: Fantasia - Hooker - Stewart

Nah, put him in I say. Round one or 4 doesn't make much difference.

I'm a big McKernan fan but unless Leuenberger is badly injured I expect Smack to end up in the VFL reasonably quickly as he has always been average as a forward.

Another scenario where McKernan doesn't end up in the VFL is if Bellchambers becomes the number 1 ruckman as his tank is tiny and will need much more of a chop out the Leuenberger.

I think we will find out after the surgery...
Have been without any form of media for about 24 hours. Actually have no idea what he's done.

He's not going into surgery.

My Round 1 team:

B: Hartley, Hurley, Baguley
HB: Gleeson, Hooker, Goddard
C: Zaharakis, Heppell, Z. Merrett
HF: Colyer, Daniher, McDonald-Tipungwuti
F: Fantasia, Stewart, Langford
R: McKernan, Watson, Parish
Int: Green, Kelly, Ambrose, Hocking
Emerg: Stanton, Howlett, McGrath

A hammy, so you'd think 3-4
Let's hope only 3. Although if it's 4 Carlton and Brissy aren't terrible for him to miss. However we need him vs Jacobs
