tap to team mate when in ruck. mark ball in forward line....kick goal. Thats all he needs to know for the minute

A little bit like the old Chicago Bulls offence under Doug Collins in the early 1980’s

“Just give the ball to MJ and get the **** out the way”. :D

I dont think anyone has suggested Knights takes Bodes crumbing role. Knights is the midfielder, but Douglas or McLeod could do that role.

We need to find a way to get Knights in the side. Its round 1, we are playing Essendon, his preseason warrants it and so does his development. Remember he was in our side last year until he was injured.

Douggie showed what he can do in the midfield against the Eagles. He is a deadset midfielder. Some of the best small forwards in the business get lost in a pocket....even a young McLeod once got dropped because he couldn't find the ball.

Sending Douggie to a HFF or FP would be a waste of his onball abilities....and could detract from the confidence he has built. Bodey on the other hand is the most natural FP we've had since Matty Liptak and Troy Bond. He knows how to find the ball.

I don't think we should be finding a spot for Knights just for the sake of it.....and especially not if it pushes Douggie to a FP and Bosey out of the side. Both are losses.

Agree re Douglas ...he'll go on ball and change of the interchange ...his body is still not strong enough to rest in a pocket and put defensive pressure on and his first call has to be as a midfielder.

Can't agree and won't that Bode is our most natural FP since ....he had a great defensive season but as an offensive weapon ....gee I wouldn't put my house on his performances.

The player everyone has overlooked and who IMO is a walkup start is Porplyzia .....choose who you like for him to replace in round 1 sides but he will be in it.

Bode has to be susceptible based on PS form and the good form of Knights, Douglas and Porplyzia

Re: Winged Crows

I think NC will have Perrie replace Tippett (would of been McGregor if fit). I hope Knights & Douglass also play - we are getting very cramped for room here....

Bassett Rutten Johncock
McLeod Stevens Mattner
Doughty Thompson Reilly
Burton Bock Edwards
Perrie Welsh Bode

Hudson Goodwin Van Berlo

Griffin Douglas Knights Torney.

I have made an assumption that VB will replace Shirles as the tagger, then it's either Shirley or Douglas on the bench. I think Douglas has the potential to offer more options (harsh on Shirles??). Douglas will miss if Roo plays.
Think that's pretty good although it's hard to imagine Shirley getting replaced on his great PS form (:p )......as I said Porplyzia will be squeezed into that side but at whose expense

Re: Winged Crows

Those who are suggesting that Bode won’t be in our team come Round 1 seriously need to get a clue. Bode led the AFL in tackles inside 50 last year and kicked 32 goals and had 66 hard-ball gets. He is a crucial part of our forward line because not only does he kick goals but his forward line pressure creates opportunities for others.

Drummond,

you are the voice of reason! :D

Re: Winged Crows

Bode and Shirley are just about certainties and I agree with WW that there will be a place for Porplyzia. Just not sure who would miss out but I reckon Needles is ahead of Knight and Douglas in the pecking order.

As for Tippett, I think he is an extremely small chance. If Perrie can string 2 games together by round 1 (1 with us and 1 with North) he will be in the side instead. If not, then I think we will go smallish and play the ruckman forward.

Re: Winged Crows

So Andrew McLeod hasn’t been toying with a potential move to the forward line this summer? And Nathan Van Berlo not good enough to play on a half back flank?

Flexibility, especially in round 1 is needed.

I must apologise. I did read your post incorrectly, I read it that you wanted a direct swap for Bode.

As noted I also want Knights in the side and have used Torney to replace him. You can play Doughty,VB and Mattner on the HBF line without losing too much

I agree that'll "probably" be the go but more on their 2006 form not their PS form this year.

For those who say Bode is "critical" to our forward line .....I say what about early 2005 and year prior ......I think form is the key word with Bode ...so far little exhibit of it this PS and the youngsters they are a coming ....;)

Is Porplyzia fit? Or Vince?

Think they're both fit ...although Iam a little concerned with the regular knee "soreness" Porplyzia is experiencing :(

There has to be a limit to how many "newbies" are in for round one.

Generally 1-2 ....can see Griffin, and Douglas ...then comes the pubescent Porplyzia and Knights with a mere handful of games ....

Although iam a HUGE wrap for Vince, I think his PS has been limited and can't see him breaking in for round 1.
