Well, with JJ out, i feel Pev and Heff should both be in the side. Bradley is a versatile option on the bench, he can do a bit of everything.
Slattery could play for either Pev or Heff, maybe. In that case, you could slot McVeigh into the middle...
I think a lot of you guys are under rating how raw a lot of our young kids are. Davey is a chance as i said, but personally, i wouldn't pick him rnd1.
Davey isn't a kid, thats the big difference with him.
Have you seen him play?
He is a shoe in for round 1 and is a long way in front of some guys who are 5 year players

If we lose by anything more than 4 or 5 goals with the team Adelaide has got then it is going to be another long season.

How is a game from 96 or 06 any relevant? We beat them there in 04 also, it's a whole new year, I expect us to be reletively close at 3 quarter time.
They were crap in 04 - we were not.
We are crap - they are not. Pretty simple. Hence I expect us to do poorly.
Lets not get carried away - we have won how many games travelling since 2001? And we finished where in 06? I don't see how we can win - it is clearly more mental - that and Adelaide are too big for us and too confidnet and too well disciplined. I would like us to be as disciplined as them - we would make the 8 for sure.
And the 96 reference is that getting thumped in adelaide in round 1 will not nec. mean we will have a bad year.
I would back the 96 team over us any time.
They will be missing Ricciuto,Hentschel,McGregor. They have a depleted ruck setup, with their lead ruckman(Hudson) back from a year out and their backup (Griffin) is a raw kid who will play his first game and probably isnt ready for another year or two but due to injuries is in. We have had a relatively good pre-season by our standards and have few injuries. They have had a shocking pre-season and have not been impressive. We have no excuses.

Games are very relevant in Adelaide, unfortunately I rarely see us win here but when we do it's like a finals win!

It's time for Sheeds to bite the bullet and throw the kids straight into the deep end for a month, and find out if they can swim!

That's exactly why it isn't relevant, they were different years, we were bad they were good, we were good they were bad ect ect.
It may very well be a mental thing as to why we play badly over there but it doesn't mean Sheedy isn't addressing it, if we are to improve this year that's one thing we need to look at.
In all likely hood we may not win, but we don't know how good or bad us and Adelaide will start the year, you just never know.
Didn't Sheeds say Houli and Jetta would play also? I'd be very surprised if they missed tbh. Adelaide will have a very short forwardline given their injuries, so an extra tall in Kepler isn't required. Heffernan is the other who IMO won't play round one.
So from that side:
Out - Heff, Bradley
In - Jetta, Houli

never actually seen a quote form Sheeds, it was just hinted at in a newspaper, I'd prefer Heff to Houli at this stage, especially in Adelaide
I didn't know that, but I still think Houli will debut in round 1. The way Freo went about beating Adelaide in the most recent praccy game was spot on; played on at all cost and ran the lines. Adelaide looked slow and struggled to cope, if you are to cause an upset come round 1 guys like Heff aren't the answer IMO. I think Houli will get a gig early.
Would rather Dempsey then Houli if we are going for someone to break the lines.
If Sheedy is addressing the mental thing - then why do we still suck - I would say he is trying with no success on the travel problem.
I'm just sick and tired of getting my hopes up in Adelaide - 04 was a real suprise - mind you all I can think of from that game was murphy's goal on the run from outside 50.
The 05 and 06 games were deplorable.
If they beat us in the middle we are dead! And Hudson will account for Hille with ruckwork - Hille can't ruck (not to say we don't need him in the ruick we do. But he is a poor ruckman who is there for strength and he iis ability around the ground/up forward).
Bradley will play midfield/back up ruck -so we are not tall - just slow.
And Sheedy is/has been far too conservative - hence my selections.

Maybe so, as long as he's trying to do something about it. No point thinking about the last couple of years as its a whole new season, things can change
The midfield battle will be our challenge every single week as our forward line is our strength while Mal has helped down back. If we play well in the midfield we'll have a shot every week, but it's a big if, our kicking still needs big improvements
