Greetings Bomber Fans.

The countdown is on to ROund one, should be a nice tight game between the two clubs, With Lloydy back and Michael freeing up Fletcher the DOns look pretty good this year.

My question is, not having the opportunity to follow Essendons form from over here, is are there any young fellas you reckon will debut against us, or any other selection surprises?

Have heard Alwyn Davey is going alright, not surprised, was spewin the Crows didnt pick him up, saw him at a few SANFL games last year and damn is he fast:eek: . Cheers people

Overall consensus that I have gathered is that Davey is almost certain to play.

Leroy Jetta has showed some top pre-season form and to a lesser extent, Bachar Houli. So one of those two may debut against you guys. But doubtful. Jetta being the most likely.

Either way you should see at least one debutant

I thought Houli was a better chance of selection than jetta given we have Davey/Monfries/Lovett all in the Jetta mould!

Thats how i've been thinking. Jetta is close, but i very much doubt that we'll head into the game with three debutants. Davey and Houli to play.

Davey and Houli for mine also, but you never know with Sheeds and i think he likes the "unexpected" from Jetta....

I'd debut all 3 of them, they offer more than Peveril, Bolton + the fact its likely JJ and Campo wont be fit. Stick Monfries and Lovett into the midfied and rotate Jetta and Houli through one HFF and let Davey have the other.

Bring on round 1! Can't wait to be there. Crows were ordinary last night. We are a big chance.

That is one word for it. I can think of another few that wouldnt get through the blocker:D . Seriously though it should be a cracker, I reckon you guys are in for a good year

I agree with that, except I wouldnt think Houli would be used across half forward at this stage. Dont think he can handle having an aggressive half back opponent on his hammer so soon. He's still a long way off taking someone on from what Ive seen of him.

He'd have trouble dealing with a Johncock or McLeod off HB also, personally I'd wait to debut him, although I'm not a coach

I agree I dont think Houli is good enough yet to debut... Would much rather Winderlich or Slattery or someone like that in the team at this stage then Houli. You guys have been pumping him up a lot, he has done some good things but is not consistent enough for the seniors yet..

Didnt you learn anything from Round 1 2004? ;)

We cant afford to be taking 3 debuts interstate especially against the most experienced side in the league, even Sheedy admitted along the lines after that particularly game in '04 with Kepler, Stanton and Lovett Murray debuting, doing nothing and the team getting belted by Port by nearly 100 points.

we would've got pumped that game no matter who we played. look at the rewards now, stants and lov-murray are both established players.

there is no point playing heff, pev and bolts as they won't be any better than they were last year.

i wouldn't play houli yet, but i would include davey (obviously in), jetta and dempsey. even if they only touch the ball ten times each they will hurt the opposition.

kepler got reported for "making forceful contact" to the head of birchall.

what the hell does that mean?????? isn't that just striking???
