Whilst there is never a good time to have players reported, at least we are playing Adelaide in round 1. If David Hille's report is as minor as everyone says and he is unlucky enough to get a week, it won't be the end of the world. Adelaide's combination of Hudson and Griffen are hardly going to kill us. Paddy should play and this should be a good oppurtunity for him to play in the ruck against beatable opponents.

From what ive heard hille might escape with a reprimand but i hope bradely gets suspended indefinetly.

it is probably 50/50 whether he receives games or not. the incident wasn't too bad but his suspension from last year might hurt him. if he had a good record he would definitely get a reprimand. i think it was munston that got "hit" and he wasn't affected from it.

maybe essendon and hawthorn can strike a deal. munston and birchall can defend kepler and hille. while pevs and lloydy can back up hodge. sounds fair to me.

Ok so now that all the practice matches have finished, what's everyones R1 team ?

Mine (I know you've all been waiting for it, don't deny):

B: McVeigh Michael NLM
HB: McPhee Fletcher Welsh
C: Stanton Watson Monfries
HF: Davey Lucas Hird
F: Jetta Lloyd M. Johnson
R: Hille Lovett Winderlich
INT: Ryder Dempsey Slattery Heffernan

Like the look of that team Darealrath especially in the middle.

Only thing I think is that it is a very young midfield and Sheedy will probably elect to take a more experienced midfielder interstate with JJ out.

Ive got the feeling Pev or Dyson will play instead of Dempsey or Jetta.

If Hille is unfortunate to miss the Adelaide game he should be pumped for the home game against Freo, which would be a little bonus.

Yeah or costing us the game in Adelaide in the process through the team missing him like last year against the dogs in round 3 after hitting Mitch Clarke the week before against the lions.

Well here is my team, assuming both Hille and Bradley get suspended and Laycock and JJ are missing thru injury.

FB: Welsh, MM, Slattery

HB: McPhee, Fletcher, NLM

C: Winders, Watson, Stanton

HF: Hird, Lucas, Lovett

FF: Jetta, Lloyd, Davey

Rucks: Ryder, Monfries, McVeigh

Interchange: Heffernan, Bolton, MJ, Dyson

Who is our next ruckmen? hille laycock bradley Ryder (although he is officially from now a CHB or HBF) then who???? who rucked in the 2's last year when ryder played ones?

i am happy with this team.
although swap lovett and stants.
cj will play. he will kick two goals a game on the third best tall defender
good work having dempsey in.
good work not having kepler in.
i think pevs would be ahead of heff. although neither will be in when jj returns
i wouldn't be surprised if dyson was picked

Johns still injured?

cj didn't play as they didn't want to risk him after the corky he received against the eagles.

i wouldn't be surprised if he played for bendigo this week to get some match fitness.

if he is fit he should be picked for round 1

The team Sheedy actually plays will be something very similar to this:

(Not taking into account possible suspensions).

B: McVeigh, Michael, Lovett-Murray
HB: McPhee, Fletcher, Welsh
C: Lovett, Watson, Winderlich
HF: Hird, Lucas, Monfries
F: Johns, Lloyd, M.Johnson
R: Hille, Stanton, Peverill
INT: Ryder, Heffernan, Dyson, Bradley

I think that Davey, Jetta, Houli will all miss out rnd1. It's not ideal to debut at AAMI. Then again, Sheeds debuted Stants there a couple of years ago now when he was only 17? Still, try and find a spot for him in that side...There's no room in midfeild. The only possible starter is Davey, that's it.

And those who believe one of the three could come in for Peverill or Heff...We simply don't have any more room for inexperienced draft picks in that midfeild. Pev and Heff have to play with JJ out.

Davey, Houli, Jetta, Gumbleton - They can all gain some experience down at Bendigo for now. Let them dominate that, then give them a chance in the big time a few rounds in depending on how we are (and they are) travelling.

Backline will be interesting, we should be able to handle the Crows alright, with Michael the huge plus obviously. We really missed that second key position player down back last season imo, hopefully he can do us proud when in the red and black. McVeigh will probably get a stint or two on the ball, depending on how the Crows line-up. Slattery can come off the bench if neccesary.

The middle is very worrying for mine. Without JJ, we could struggle to win the hard ball from stoppages and get killed in clearances. Hopefully Hille doesn't get rubbed out, that would be extremely harsh. Our pace is going to have to be our strength through their, but we need to also put emphasis on hitting targets, composure will be needed from our pacy wingmen.

Forward line just makes me grin. Lloyd, Lucas, Johns. How many sides this year have three big men that can control all three of those at once? You could maybe keep one or two quiet at best, but all three..good luck. Then, you add Hird to that, who this year will probably kick around 50, as he won't be pushed into the middle nearly as often.

Can't wait!

surely your not serious about davey not playing in round 1.

pev and heff should not be played in the same team

you don't have slats in your 22. he should be picked ahead of heff and pev

kepler and paddy shouldn't be played in the same team if hille is right to play

What's the point? they aren't gonna learn a great deal by absolutely killing oposition. They need to be challenged, especially Davey who is a bit older.

because we have better wingman than kepler
our forward line is already tall enough
fletch, big mal, mcphee and paddy can take any tall forwards of adelaide

and on a dewey night in adelaide his poor skills will be compounded by the conditions.
