Since we have a cross-pollination of a few specific pre-occupations emerging time and again across most threads on the NM board at the moment, I feel like it would be healthy to have a thread where posters can happily vent about their pet obsessions to hearts content.
So, in a round-robin competition where you have a team of Will Phillips, competing against a team of Bailey Scotts, and a team of Toby Pinks, and team of Caleb Daniels - who wins?
For me, the team of 22 Will Phillips would come out of the starting blocks firing on all cylinders, but its an open question whether they could create an unassailable lead by halftime. By which time they're so gassed that its just a matter of hanging on for dear life.
The Daniels, I reckon, would smash them in the second half.
The Phillips of course would be relying on scoring from stoppage. The Scotts would blitz them on the overlap run, but couldn't be expected to win enough contested ball for it to matter in the long run.
The Pinks' height advantage means you'd have to favour them in the ruck contests, as they could just grab the pill straight out of the air.
If the Pinks manage to actually take a clean kick away from stoppage, they could be expected to link up uncontested marks from one end of the field to the other without much running at all. But would their kicks hit their targets? And could the Pinks actually tackle a Daniel without giving away a free?
Can't help but feel the team of Daniels would represent the kryptonite for the team of Pinks, because every time the Pinks fumble a certain mark or kick, the Daniels would be at their feet, ready for a snappy crumb off the deck.
So I could see the Pinks winning against the Phillips and the Scotts, but maybe not the Daniels.
But then the Phillips would beat the Daniels in stoppages convincingly enough in the first half that the Daniels might not be able to stage a comeback in time.
In sum:
Pinks beat Phillips
Pinks beat Scotts
Daniels beat Pinks
Daniels beats Scotts
Daniels beats Phillips
Phillips beats Scotts
END OF SEASON LADDER
The Daniels
The Pinks
The Phillips
The Scotts
But what do you reckon?
