Re: Round 23 Trades

Nice. It was either Boomer or RO'K for me, couldn't afford Stevie J and it leaves me with a fwd line of Rioli, Franklin, Chapman, Goodes, N.Riewoldt, Boomer, Fyfe.

Boomer was the better choice of the two for sure. I've got RO'K and he's been off the boil the last month.

Re: Round 23 Trades

It depends how confident you are of beating your opponent. Personally I'd lean toward leaving nothing in the tank and trading, but you're right that Chappy probably won't give you much more than Didak or Mzungu.

That being said he is playing at Skilled this week and if it comes down to the wire every little advantage counts.

After sleeping on it I have decided to go down the trade path, should leave nothing to chance.

I've never had trades left at this point! Big chance at a cash league win though...

Re: Round 23 Trades

Boomer is a big risk against the Saints, Jones will ride him, can't see him cracking a big score.

yeah i thought the same thing but hoping he might try and go with wells or swallow. boomer has had a good month or so and still managed 90 odd against the saints last time

hoping he smashes it to try and get his boys into the finals

Re: Round 23 Trades

With Jacobs out and no bench cover in defence (Gibbs sitting there for next week and the others are out injured) Need to trade out Jacobs. Cant trade Gibbs as Heppell out next week should I progress to Grannies. In Prelims in all my leagues. One trade left, this one.

SO, who to go for for Position D7 this week and hopefully next - $262,600 to spend - narrowed it down to:

Ashley Smith WCE Run Home BL ADEL LW 65 AVE 67
Matt Maguire BL WCE SYD LW 81 AVE 56
Duffield FREO Coll WB LW 0 AVE 75
Malceski SYD GEEL BL LW 77 AVE 66
Tutt WB HAWKS FREO LW 147 AVE 147

Leaning towards taking a huge risk and going for Tutt. What do you reckon? Would you go for one of the others? Cheers

Re: Round 23 Trades

Need to trade Newman for another defender of the same price or cheaper. Was thinking Gibson but Hawthorn playing, and possibly dominating, against the Bulldogs and/or Gold Coast would that hurt his score with the ball predominantly in Hawthorn's forward half? Any other defenders I should look at (at or below $440,000)?

Thanks.

not sure what other defenders you have but at that price you could look at Enright, Suckling, Birchall, Grundy, Fisher, Murphy, Adcock, Gram.

Re: Round 23 Trades

I'm still racking my brain...

want to go Dal Santo/Johnson but can't do both. Could if I traded Judd but then I'd have to hope for no injuries and pick up another premium next week.

Some options I do have though:
Dal Santo and a forward out of: chapman, harvey, fyfe, cloke, davis
Johnson and a midfielder out of: boyd, mitchell, selwood, s. thompson,

at different points I've found myself settled on these:
dal santo and harvey
johnson and boyd/mitchell/selwood

I think Johnson is by far better than the other forwards but I can't split the mids below Dal Santo, Selwood doesn't have a good draw, Boyd can be up and down, and Mitchell may be rested next week.

help!

Dal Santo Harvey because most of those other names have bigger negatives, like you said eg hard games, inconsistant, maybe rested etc.
I desperately want to get Harvey in my team contrary to what people say about him getting tagged out. Hes a little terrier that knows they need to win to make finals and hes nearing the end of his career, expect a big game.
But I need a Forward under $421800. Who and why please?
I can swap Gibbs into mid and trade for Harvey but that might leave me exposed if someone misses in the backline next week??

Re: Round 23 Trades

Wanting to trade out Judd this week. Torn between Dal Santo and Selwood.

Dal Santo = my opponent this week has him
Selwood = has an unbelievale record at Skilled Stadium

Would appreciate some opinions. Cheers

Depends on the strength of your defender backups. As for a forward under that mark, you could look at ROK he's just a good player and even though he's got a tough game against the cats he's been solid all year. Brennan has a good draw. Petrie is good too, good draw. Jroo and Kennedy are also cheap and have decent draws and pretty good form.

I'm making a similar choice. I'd go with Dal Santo though, Selwood was poor against the Swans last time they played.

Sorry to confuse the issue but id go selwood, loves skilled stadium and has a good record against the pies, dal is handy to say the least but my gut says get selwood

I'd go Bartel. Has averaged 107 the last 5 compared to Montagna's 93. Monty is prone to the occassiona 40 point stinker where as Bartel always clears 80 points. Also averages 127 at Skilled Stadium this year.

Hopefully it isn't annoying to be contradictory but I'd go with Montagna, the saints will be desperate and he's capable of big scores... but like celtic67 said you can count on a decent score from Bartel so it would be a gamble.

Re: Round 23 Trades

I'm having a hard time making the call on trades this week. Looking at replacing Pav and Sylvia, one in the midfield and one in the forward line, can almost get any combination of forward/midfielder except the combo I'd like most: Johnson/Dal Santo

If I don't get Dal Santo I could get Johnson and one of: selwood, mitchell, boyd, hodge, fyfe, thompson, etc
if I don't get Johnson I could get Dal Santo and one of: harvey, petrie, cloke, fyfe, etc

current mids: priddis, mzungu, boak, ablett, swan, pendles, (sylvia, andreoli, judd)
fwds: franklin, i.smith, Nroo, rok, goodes, krak, rioli, (pav, lynch, pitt)

any advice really appreciated.
N.D.S and Harvey. I'd say Fyfe but his team is a mess and playing the Pies. Harvey less likely to be tagged with Swallow/Wells doing well. Johnson less likely to score well versus Sydney and Pies than he has been.

Thoughts on these trades -
out - Pavlich, N.Roo
in - Buddy, Didak
or will N.Roo finally decide to kick some goals?
OR
out - Pavlich, Lower
in - Buddy, Guerra(169 versus Dogs round10)

Buddy is a must if you don't have him, the other two options are a bit nothingish

Thanks for the reply, I'm leaning that way but nervous... really think Johnson is in good form!

As for your trades, I agree with toxic, definite yay on Buddy, and the other move is not massive... perhaps look at some other options? Personally I'd play NRoo over Didak, so maybe another backline option, there are some cheapies around like Adcock, Hurn, Grundy. There are also some cheap forwards you might take a punt on like Kennedy and JRoo.

Re: Round 23 Trades

Super Coach n00b here. 1st season and advice appreciated.
Playing in two prelims this weekend.
Have one trade left after being forced to trade out Gibbs for Deledio.

I have two choices in which I am playing out in my tiny little mind:
1: trade Marc Murphy out for Ablett. Both my opponents have Ablett, but my midfield depth without Murphy is: Boyd, Swan, Mitchell, Embley, Trengove, D. Swallow. I don't think that's going to be enough to beat my two opponents. They both have Ablett so I would just be trading to tread water with them.
2: Trade Pavlich out for Cloke. Cloke could be a wildcard playing against Freo, and if I happen to win, I can have the luxury of putting Murphy back into my midfield. neither of my opponents have Cloke.

Getting Ablett in for Murphy strengthens my midfield, but both opponents have Ablett.
Getting Cloke in is a risk, but as neither opponent has him, it could pay off.

I only have Heppell who won't be available next week and without any injuries, I can cover him.

What to do? This is serious stuff.
I think either way I am screwed and the dream debut season is in tatters.

I feel your pain, this is my first season too and I've run into trouble this week!

Tough call there, I think it would help to see the overall strength of your fwd line, can you cover pavlich better than you can murphy? I'd agree that your midfield is lacking without Murphy in there and Ablett will almost certainly score more than Cloke so I'd probably bring in Ablett.

However, Swallow is playing Melbourne and if you have worse cover for pavlich then you might want to make a trade there instead. But Cloke is a big risk, I'd go with Ablett then trade pavlich next week if you get through.

good luck

Re: Round 23 Trades

I've gone bartel, just more likely not to stink it up this weekend
