Have heard that Essendon are sniffing around Ro too, which is why the request came yesterday from Ro. His preference is the Cats. Who wants to go to Essendon as a 30yo

Sure. Keep a disgruntled player and let him rot in the VFL. Or take an R1 pick for a 30-year-old surplus to requirements player. I think even SOS isn't pig-headed enough to know what is ultimately in St.Kilda's best interests.

Marshall won't be rotting in the VFL if he stays. I think we all know that.

Most Saints and Cats fans on this thread have been pretty fair with their value of the trade. Now it's getting close fans want to try and play hard ball by the looks of it but I think we will see a fair outcome in the end.

Marshall can be an effective forward (despite some of his set shots) and Ryder's elite tap work certainly made a difference by giving our pretty crap midfield a chance. I think the two ruck prospect is less important now that our mid setup is more proactive but I still doubt we settle for just an okay pick.

I think there's a world of difference between pinch hitting on a rotation defenders aren't expecting and being a starting forward that defenders do homework on.

Jack Henry has gone forward in a tight game against Richmond, kicked 3 and won us the game and no one thinks he's a forward.

Cats traded Steven King to the Saints for pick 90. At the time he was 28, a premiership player, 2 time best and fairest and an all Australian. A late 1st rounder seems very reasonable

Probably would have won by a lot more if they had TDK and Marshall instead of those two also.

I think most would agree we are more likely to see dual rucks with the extra on the bench.

Anyway, I'm not suggesting Marshall will be here next year. I think we all know he most likely won't be. But I also think we'd be a better side with both playing so it's not the end of the world if Cats try to get him for unders and he stays.

A fair trade will be done though.

Why would he be happy to play two average rucks but not two good rucks?

Especially when one is at least a threat forward.

Completely different circumstances though. Marshall had two years to run on a deal that has been front ended.

He's still clearly best 22 if he stays.

The club will do the right thing and let him go for a fair deal in sure, but it makes no sense to get bent over.

A deal will get done. Not sure why fans are all of a sudden beating their chests in this thread, it's been pretty good in here up until the last few days.

What I find thoroughly comical is all cats fans say “first or second rd” instead of what the actual pick is likley to be.

A geelong second rd pick is in the order of pick 45-50 this year and is crazily different to North’s 2nd which will land about 30.. very close to what most geelong fans think will get it done (25)

We just received band 1 (pick 9) for TDK - Thankyou SOS .

19 for JSOS is amazing (!) for a solid backman who plays 1/2 a season on average.

The club was happy to take the compensation & run given we have 2 top-10 fathers sons this/next year.

Curnow leaves only if we let him leave - 4 years to run on his contract. If he does it will be our our terms & to our benefit.

Be honest - Marshall leaving must make the TDK acquisition seem a little daft?

SDK has played ruck and we will have Kolo available to cover him in defence.

Neale can chop out.

Conway we have to wait and see if he can get his body right.

It's not exactly like it's Marshall or bust. So why overpay?

I rate sdk a good defender but he is completely lost when playing in the ruck
