Recommitted Rowan Marshall [OOC 2027] - Requested Trade to Geelong, didn't get done

Back in some really good form he might not be a great at centre bounces but you all most forget his a ruckman sometimes with how polished his skills and decision making is around the ground. I would be putting a end to any trade talks

That's fair. If I'm Marshall I'm asking for a trade but if I'm st kilda I'm holding him to his contract.

If he asks for a trade I’m sure we would do the right thing buy him considering how good he has been for us over the years . But I wouldn’t be taking anything less than Geelongs first and I would be surprised if they are willing to pay that

I don't think geelong would do much more than their first but the Venn diagram definitely overlaps

I would much rather keep him but if he wants a trade Geelong first falls in an area that would be reasonable fair for both sides I believe. It’s more a case of will they be happy to trade it for a 29 year old or are they expecting a token pick type trade in that case a trade won’t happen

Even if he only plays 50 games i think it would be worth it

I think Geelong will pay our current first but you will want our future 1st and i doubt we would pay it.
I tend to think St kilda will just hold him to his contract.

It's only worth it if you win the flag in 2026/7. That's the risk when you trade in a ruck that age.

They refuse to trade the contracted players. It's not that hard. I wonder what Ralph is on sometimes. It's pretty unlikely that Geelong will offer enough to tempt st kilda to let Marshall go.

Really depends how burned Rohan is on the whole thing.

If it's cultural poison then you're better off cutting losses

I can absolutely see our first this year being enough....it's SOS who would be the problem child here, not anyone else.

If he can get out of his own way for two seconds the Saints might actually get onside of player agents and players themselves.

Not really. If he goes what are they going to do with the cap space? No one good wants to go there. They are going to hold him and he will just have to tolerate it.

Player trading isn't AFL23. They're real people with real careers and the club is their employer. If you have a player retention problem then holding a player that's likely to see out his career in the vfl rather than granting a trade is not going to help you sign the next NWM long term.

Pushing players who want to leave out the door is the fastest way to generate a culture of people wanting to be there.

How do players know exactly what their peers and targets are earning ?. By reading footy journo articles ?.

I’d be in favour of all salaries being made public like a proper grownup league. At the very worst it would put a whole bunch of dead shit journos out of a job.

Marshall's not going to see out his career in the vfl though. He already has and can work in a 2 ruck system this is not a Grundy scenario.

So if sdk wanted to join his brother at st kilda you would have no issues letting him walk ?

When he was a 30 game developing player handing over with an elite ruck who was tapering off.

If Gawn and Grundy, with full buy in from the players, lasted half a season then this will last half that

Yeah because there's no point keeping someone around if they aren't happy. They aren't going to play their best.
Sam doesn't want to leave so it's a mute point...

All signs are pointing to Rowan wanting to be a Cat. It's up to your management to decide whether they want to keep a disgruntled player on 800k playing out of position after he's been replaced by a guy in the same position getting paid double what he is....or not.
