Pure inside mids, especially ones who are off their peak are a hard sell. WCE would be a good fit, but he ruled that out. I just feel he will stay. Could be ok as there are always injuries and he would be in front of Dow and Carroll as an experienced mid, and would help the kids develop in our new VFL team.
Could go completely the other way or both go, but am pretty sure Marshall will be traded if there is no interest in Steele.

I think he will struggle to be best 23 next year. The way the game has evolved, his type have dropped in value unless they possess some leg speed. The club appears to have explained where he sits in their plans, with the younger brigade pushing up and competing for spots.
So it's upto him if he wants to risk playing VFL or seek a trade where he's guaranteed a start. Again, the issue is that most teams can only carry one of his "type" in the midfield (we have MacRae).
That said, the timing of the statement is interesting because I think most of the above would have been communicated to Jack already. Maybe we've secured another mid, thus making it even harder for him in 26.
Would love for him to stay, but I'm not sure he can reinvent himself in another position.

Cats would wanna keep their FF. The clubs will match bids on stars like Butters, Walsh and Bailey next year. You need as many top end picks as possible to satisfy any one of those clubs .

We are in no way trading a future first for Rowan Marshall, not even remotely on the table.
This year sure and throw in a little extra to sweeten it but any extra first on top of this year would result in Cats walking.
