Senior Rowan Marshall

Rowan played well against the Hawks with 18 disposals and 6 marks . He does have to work on his rucking over the preseason as he only had 8 hitouts but he shows a lot of potential. Pressure will be on him next year once Bruce, Paddy and Battle are all fit and fighting for a spot.

Rowan Marshall’s hard work has paid off.

The St Kilda Football Club confirmed on Friday afternoon that the 201cm Saint has been elevated to the senior list from the rookie list after toiling away for two seasons.

This is awesome news, the only stain on it is viewing that troglodyte Daisy Thomas in the photo there of Marshall.

Jeez that grey jumper was a complete nightmare, especially in contrast to the whiter than white panel on ours ( sounds like a washing powder commercial)

Excellent news for Marshall.

I think the challenge for him is to be able to prove he is actually capable of being starting 22 in a single position - (probably as a forward) - rather than being picked because he is an OK forward but is a better second ruck option.

On exposed form, Marshall could be a real challenge for most opposition teams especially if playing alongside a fit and firing Bruce or McCartin on the forward line.

ST KILDA big man Rowan Marshall has been rewarded for an encouraging 2018 by being upgraded to the senior list.

The New Zealand-born tall played 12 games this year, showing promise in the ruck and attack, despite booting an inaccurate 6.13.

Marshall has spent the past two seasons on the rookie list, and his work ethic hasn't gone unnoticed at Moorabbin.

"Rowan's worked hard to prove himself at the top level since coming in as a rookie," head of list management James Gallagher told saints.com.au.

"We're really happy with his progress as a footballer, and he showed some really promising signs when he came into the senior side this year.

"To be elevated to the senior list is a good indication of how far he's come during his two years at the club, but he'll continue to work away and aim to play more senior footy in 2019."

Marshall has played 13 career matches after making his debut in round 18 last year against Sydney, and averages 13 disposals.

The 22-year-old could be leant on for more ruck support next season after the Saints traded Tom Hickey to West Coast.

St Kilda shored up its ruck department by signing big men Billy Longer and Lewis Pierce to one-year deals earlier this week.

Does St.kilda need to use a pick in the national draft for this to be a formality? For example, using their last pick in the national draft (pick 79).

I thought they got rid of that a few years ago.

I assume Murraj1966 that the game was at Princes Park(one of our several graveyard venues) and noticed by the scoreboard that we're getting pumped.
