Anyone still doubting the entrenched psychopathic Machiavellian behavior at the senior levels of VicPol?
You know it’s bad when Overland is telling an ESD Investigator to not come to a crime scene because he didn’t want the media to know about possible connections to corruption or that Wayne Strawhorn has roughly 10 meetings with Gobbo and his answer about them was the same “I don’t know” answer.

There are many facets to the Overland scenario, but yes, he was another one.

However, If you think those in opposition to Overland are the "good guys" then you are seriously mistaken.

Jeez they really want Tony dead don't they.

Of course, it's a lie. This is a tactic they employ when they know a certain party won't make statements or give evidence, so they can just smash them as much as they like and make up all sorts of unsubstantiated rubbish. It's StKilda Rd. 101 stuff. They want the entire focus off themselves and concentrated on Mokbel and/or Gobbo. Police diaries get filled with all sorts of unsubstantiated rubbish which is put in place to cover backsides further down the track.

Let's see if the R.C. forces Bowden to corroborate his statements with solid evidence. I'll wager there is none.

That's what their problem is, they're not weeding out the unscrupulous Machiavellian types but promoting them to senior positions. VicPol might need gutting at the highest ranked levels. imo.

Very bad timing, almost all of Strawhorn was behind closed doors

Probably why the Age went to print with a less than honest story where the roles were reversed on who Gobbo was representing when Strawhorn was approached. Nobody could check this for truth.

It seems to me that whatever any of them knows they can get away with saying to frame themselves in a better light, they will say it whether it's true or not.

imo.

Mokbel apparently offered to give up corrupt police. That offer via Gobbo astonishingly if true, was refused when many on the street and in the force suspected he operated under some police protection. I'm not sure an offer to turn informant on anybody outside of VicPol would have been passed up.

Detective Inspector Peter De Santo, who ran the Ethical Standards Department from 2000 to 2006, said he received but rejected offers of cooperation from Mokbel after he and McGuire had been charged, separately, with major drug offences.

It is unclear why police did not accept Mokbel’s cooperation in 2002 other than Detective De Santo telling the royal commission that the offer “wasn’t on” and the information wasn’t considered useful.

Good luck.

The OPI set out to do that then the Libs came in to power and neutered the whole program.

The big end of town are all in bed together. Senior VicPol is a part of that.

Paudse for a moment and think about this. These are the cops who have the responsibility of investigating departmental corruption purportedly declining to take evidence on this issue. The very same Ethical Standards Department that was so inept at its task that the OPI was set up in 2004 to do the job DeSanto couldn't or wouldn't get done.

As you know, I'm not anti police but this isn't a good look.

Of course, it is utter tripe.

Mokbel would have been killed years ago if he ever did make it known to VicPol that he had tales to tell.

Perhaps it is more of a case of prior absence of genuinely independent oversight with sufficient powers to cut through systemic misconduct. Think Victoria has that now.

The offer for information on corrupt police came from Gobbo. She'd have known that offer wouldn't have been kept quiet, was she lying and trying to get him killed?

Article page 4 Herald Sun today by Dowling and Dowsley headlines 'Corrupt cops in spotlight' focusing on the Hodsons and the opening paragraph is:

"A burglary at a Tony Mokbel linked drug house, committed by a senior constable and a career criminal involved police of higher ranks, an inquiry heard today."

What does that even mean? Linked how?

Is there nothing they can just leave Mokbel out of?

Two reasons - the house was linked to Mokbel and that name sells papers.

Mokbel was the biggest drug cook and dealer going at the time.

Azzam "Adam" Ahmed was the sitter of the house, along with Abbey Haynes.
The house was allegedly where Mokbel had ecstasy being processed.

Within hours of being released on bail, Ahmed met up with Tony Mokbel and told police that Mokbel was involved with the Dublin St house but later retracted the statement.

Didn't you know that this was the Mokbel Royal Commission.

Mokbel was the biggest drug cook and dealer going at the time.

Was he? Or did he just look like it scooting about in his Ferrari and Armani suits? I heard the only reason the police went for him initially was because he just got too cocky and lodged an application to build apartments that crossed over Sydney Road from one side to the other ... something like that. A very ambitious plan and wouldn't take no for an answer.
