I'd rather have a bye than play the AFL All-Stars. It may have worked well in the past but playing them is effectively having a bye as the side has no posters which leads to less interest from the team playing them as there is no-one to banter with.

If Baghdad can get a second team running then I'd be in favour of bringing them into the competition to make ten teams. If that doesn't happen, the Mods side should be looked at as they aren't a strong posting side.

SS im for 10 sides just not a baghdad / essendon based one i just feel there are many other options. And i\believe the bot team is a wasteful week for the side playing them as you have stated ljp. Every opportunity should be made to get another team in and if Baghdad have the numbers well then a team should come from there playing group but not considered as a 2nd bombers side

Why? If you guys had enough to field 2 sides I wouldn't be against it.
Our players want to play for Baghdad. If they wanted to play anywhere else they would.

what happens if the bombers are able to get 42 players for the next season year but at the end of that season are only left with 35?
Would it be a matter of well we did our part in getting a 2nd team together to make the SFA a 10 team comp to eliminate the bye, we did our part now we can go back to out strong 1 team again. How are you going to be sure that the 2nd team will be sustainable? you will need a the very least 42 players with 1 reserve on each side as you can't make the assumption that no one from your team will get red carded, admin suspension ect.

WTF are you talking about?

A few days ago you were complaining that half the teams in the SFA have only half a dozen posters and now you seem to be saying that 35 posting players between 2 teams would be unsustainable?

How many teams do you think had bench players, pockets and probably even flankers who weren't posting last season?
How many posting players are there in YOUR team?

You seem to be complaining about everything just for the sake of it. You know f*** all but seem to think you're the voice of reason here. Even the man who created the game has indicated that 2 Bombers sides would be viable and that it's been done before but I guess you'd know more than him right?

STFU and let those involved sort out whether or not it happens.

But, pacemaker, while you concerns are totally fair, wouldn't they apply to ANY club under formation, whether or not it came out of the same real-life support base as an existing one?

I have a feeling that in footy circles, Essendon's membership is probably a little greater than twice Fitzroy's :D I;m sure their forum has more than twice our activity (even more if you take out all my spam!). So I don't see it being much more frightening a proposition than that of any other club joining.

PS: If we end up with odd teams, I vote for a bye rather than a placeholder (bot) team. JMO.

hahaha:D sorry i should have written it better. I don't expect you to have 40 or 35 posters. Just saying towards the end of the season there will be the odd 4 or 5 who haven't posted or done extremely little and they may have to be delisted and the 2 teams may e stretched for players if they only have 42 as a club and 21 on each side

You only delist players if you have enough replacements to stay above the minimum numbers. This situation occurs with every team every season.

Also, there are quite a few very highly regarded posters from the Bombers board who have just joined the team in the last couple of weeks. They are very keen and just having these guys onboard would ensure that we'd comfortably recruit more players from there.

We'd need to more actively recruit more players from there anyway to get the minimum numbers for 2 teams if the 2nd team gets the go-ahead.
I'm confident that we could comfortably do that within a few days. And I've got no doubt that we'd easily get replacements for inactive posters if we needed to.

will you have a shiter team and a better team?
No, it would be divided as evenly as possible but trying to keep certain groups of people together as much as possible.

One great side and one pretty good side wouldn't make sanse. Better posters deserve better spots. Why have a good poster sitting in a pocket in one team while they could play on the ball in the other while still being involved in the same club as their mates?

You had a player once that the fans were divided over, can't remember who he was. A lot thought he was a bit of a numbat and a lot thought he was a good player. It may have been Lucas although he got more consistent in later years.

So you could split into factions based on who liked Lucas? :)

(I'm full of ideas)

You must be talking about the Lucas of 2000 because anyone who didn't rate him in more recent years doesn't know football.

I'd have no problem with that and it would be appropriate that I'd be captain as Lucas was always one of my absolute favourites. I even named my dog Lucas after the great man :)

I don't see the point of pacemaker complaining. So what if by the end of next season we only have 30 active players over the two teams? We can then merge the teams back, no harm done.

I hope your not arguing for the sake of arguing, PM

The notion of a 2nd Baghdad Bombers team is very interesting. Would have to be some serious thought about whether the squads are seperate or if there is free movement between the teams. Pitty we don't have a Division 1 and Division 2:D

I'll take it as another submission though to be voted on by the captains in the same way the Swamprats were. So far this makes 3 proposals.

No way can there be movement between the squads.
