I dont really want to see a new Bombers team....

Out of the posters they have recruited in the past week, how many have posted since? I am sure it wouldnt be all of them.. I am sure in a month they wont all still be here. Not every poster who joins up will stay. I think its better to have 35 active posters now as in a few weeks it will be down to 25, and then they will be the most active team with 20 or so by the time the season rolls around... No point splitting the teams into two and then having 10 active posters on each side.

Boncer, if it was a 2 tier system then I can understand you thinking its a tad unfair, but if any other club can get enough members then they'd be allowed to do likewise. If it was purely as EFL suggested in that instead of having SFA Reserves v AFL Team every week we had Bombers Reserves v Rest of SFA Reserves then this wouldn't be an official competition and so its really no problem.
I couldn't care less what happens in a 2 tier system. My point relates to a Bombers Reserves vs SFA reserves. Thats a bullshit system, its unfair to the rest of the comp. Say we go in with 9 teams atm ok? All things being fair we have the Bombers who can offer guaranteed games to 40 posters, the rest of the league could at best offer guaranteed games to 22/23 people. You dont think there is a slight advantage in that?

As for my 2 cents to the whole 2 tier, 2 system, 18 conferences, 3 divisions, 6 leagues debate.

Can the Mod Squad. Sorry guys but your posting is terrible, you have Fred. And then? Great work Khan posting now, but we'll see you same time at the end of next season when the team needs saving again.

Gives you 8 teams if the Roys get up. Oh look no need for the bye. Wow. Boncers a genius.

If your still desperate for a reserves comp as well then split the 8 teams into 2 groups so 4 teams build up the 2 sides for the reserves match. 5 extra posters from each side can be included and guaranteed a game. Wowser. I'm on fire.

WHAT!!! Cats2rise wash your mouth out now. There is no chance well very slim (2%) that your theory will happen. Once a club recruits the club stays as active as ever

Here we go again...

This is why I was the bad guy a few years back - too many teams, not enough posters.

It's easy to admit more teams but it's very, very hard to reduce them without people cracking the sads.

The Roys I don't have a problem with but 2 Bombers teams? No thanks.

You were the bad guy coz your a prick. :) Dont lie FR.
Fair call.

But I can see this ending badly when these posters inevitably drift away and we're stuck with too many teams again.

I know people want to join 'Bombers' or Essendon affiliate teams but if they spread themselves amongst the current sides, we would have more than enough spots.

But want would a stupid prick like me know?

Need to find out whether the Mods are serious about continuing and if the Roys will go ahead. If both are set to go for next season then its just a matter or the following options:
1. Have a bye
2. Have a bot team
3. Have a new club
4. Have a 2nd Bombers team
Absolutely guaranteed.

Are you serious. The word 'You' can be used as a plural so there goes that bolded part. And its not like you're the only person who has spoken about a reserves format? Also why did you edit Tigs post? Perhaps he was speaking exclusively to you for the last little bit, but that was hardly the dominant point of his post.
All I can say is thank **** you've decided that you want to do this with the SFA... because while I like the idea, and would love to play in a system like this, I'd hate to run the RFFL like it... simply because, without 12 certified posting teams, you can't have an effective reserves comp. You'd be simming for inactives.

Pace, your idea of two admins wouldn't be effective... because it'd be a pain in the arse to create stats(in terms of each side fielding a ressies side or affiliating with another side). Premier and minor divisions won't work because, let's face it, why would you want two leagues when each only has six teams. It's a different story if you've got 16-18 teams and therefore decent sized divisions.

Plus, how would the awards function?

That said, I don't want to see the All Stars come back in either. How about every team picks one Demon and then we just ditch the rest. ;)

First point is that if a 2 tier structure was formed, movement between the Bombers team would be allowed. It would not be a problem in anyway. Our B&F - have a senior B&F and reserves B&F, League Awards - umm, how would it affect this at all except to be a disadvantage to Bombers players, relegation - could just exclude the Bombers from this. Also should be noted that just because I receive proposals doesn't mean they'll all be accepted by the league.

Tigs, as said a reserves idea (not Division 2) would not be an official league or games. Merely a chance for players who are not getting a game at their club to play.
I reckon I could get the Hawks another teamquite easily if that's the case.

We're back to odd numbers. Good going doggies. ;)

Boncer, the reserves idea you speak of would not be an officially run competition. Effectively it would be a series of friendlies in which we welcome other clubs the opportunity to play anyone not in their team against those who have not made our team. It's either than or we just run our own reserves against a bot team in our match thread. It's not unfair at all, every other club would be welcome to offer such matches.

Where has an effective reserves competition been suggested? The only ideas for the 2 Bombers teams playing at different levels were an unnoficial Bombers Reserves taking on Rest of SFA Reserves every now and then or the Bombers Reserves playing in Division 2 of a 2 tier system, which is hardly a reserves competition. Ulitmately that 2 tier system is HIGHLY unlikely to happen, was just thrown out there by someone as a suggestion and then discussed.

If there is a need for another team, I'd like to help try form one. Surely if there an excess of players in the Shagons they could come over (which would work well with the talk of a 2nd Dragons team).

That is of course if another team is needed.

If we need another team, I say it should be a club that doesn't have an AFL affiliation; even Gold Coast could be a very good idea.
