Honestly, don't let the retirement of Lade fool you. We have a stack of young developing ruckmen or ruck types - Lobbe, Redden, D. Stewart, Trengove*, J. Westhoff*.

If we were going to add a ruckman to the list it will be a mature-age such as Miekeljohn from PAMFC as basic insurance against Brogan's temper and Lobbe's x-factor to be used in there here and now, not another skinny kid who is 2-3 years' away.

ok thanks. We don't hear much about the Port side over heren so was unsure about Lobbe, Trengove, Stewarts development.

Personally, I would be very happy with that draft from an Essendon Point of View.

Tapscott, Crichton, Duncan and Harwood would all be good pick ups.

I like the demons taking Black with Pick 11, good call there. But would we go for sheppard over carlisle if they were both available? I highly doubt it. It just gives that bit of added insurance that for whatever reason black flops, as first round KPP sometimes do, then we have a more than capable replacement in carlisle. Of course there is the flip side in which they both become guns and melbourne has a deadly forward line in a few years (Watts, Jurrah, Black, Bate, Carlisle, Wonaeamirri, Petterd, Maric)

I tend to agree with Carlisle at 18. Two fold. Firstly insurance against Watts/Black poor form or injury etc, and secondly he can play as a KP defender. Warnock and Rivers arn't getting younger, and in 3-4 years time will be into their 30's.

Very good effort. Maybe one to many midfielders drafted from fremantles point of view. I think we will be looking to pick up a few more KPP's this draft.

i doubt essendon would pass on bastinac, good draft overall though, i want tapscott but ive given up hope, port will get him.

So would you rather have Sheppard, Fyfe and Sumner filling basically none of the dogs needs. I have looked over many phantom drafts looking at responses and you need a replacement for Eagleton so I chose Jetta, you need a kpd so I chose Grimes and you need another quick midfielder. You don't need inside mids, fwd flankers etc so I didn't choose them.

KPDs are just one area we need depth in, but the only KPD in the draft I'd take would be Talia as we'd want to stick to quality, otherwise, go with one of our other needs and take the best available.

Also, we do need forward flankers. Aker and Johnson are our 2 oldest players and losing them would be a lot because their creativity adds a lot to our forward line, infact, they're one of the reasons we were the highest scoring team this year, so give us forward flankers, I'll definitely take Fyfe over Grimes thanks because not only is Fyfe much more talented, but we need him more to be the heir to our small fowards. Also, Gilbee and Hargrave are approaching 30, so we might want another rebounding defender and Sheppard is the obvious choice.

Also, while I admit we do need a speedy wingman, personally, I wouldn't take Jetta, only because he's not keen on leaving WA. I'd have a good think about it and maybe take Colyer over him (Even though that won't happen, I'll take Sheppard or Talia thanks)
