Lucey isnt fit enough to play afl yet.

McIntosh is done.

Blicavs and Walker will be our ruck combo unless by some small chance Simpson gets fit, which considering he has been out with a shoulder injury for a few weeks combined with how unfit he was before that, is pretty remote.

Clark will probably have to go into the ruck more when he gets back and we run a three man ruck rotation.

The only possible silver lining in this is that Walker will get more games in the second half of the year which may help us retain him (I was pretty pessimistic that he will ask to be traded, and still am to a degree)
You have to hand it to Josh though he's a glutton for punishment,on Friday night every time the umpire asked the question of him and Blits "who's the ruckman in the contest" Josh's hand shot straight up.Great to see at the end of the game Scotty went straight to him and give him a big grin and a pat on the chest.

JOSH WALKER IS A MUST KEEP PLAYER
DELIST MCINTOSH + SIMPSON AT THE END OF THE SEASON
SHANE KERSTEN IS 50/50 THOUGH

Hopefully the team don't underestimate melbourne this week but I'd say there is basically no chance of melbourne winning.
If there was any chance Lucey could run around at least for half the game I'd give him a go.
Under normal circumstances he wouldn't play for a couple of years but we a desperate for a ruck. And remember last time the club throw a cat b rookie in the ruck?
He had his best game in the vfl last week and has looked surprisingly good in the games I've seen him (for where he's at).

In the longer term I wonder why the cats have never been on the trips to America?

No doubt that Walker is a must keep. It's whether he wants to stay that is the issue. If he's guaranteed senior game time elsewhere that may be enough for him to seek a trade.

Would Walker be anything more than a "bit player" if all were fit?

ITs only on the basis of self interest that we would want to keep him IMO….personally I think he's a good ordinary footballer…a depth player if you like.

HE might be considered more at another club, and that might be enough for him to go.

I hope he goes well on the weekend though. :thumbsu:

I see your point Dave but he's only 22 so if he's happy to stick around I'd keep him. Certainly over Vardy and Simpson and Co.

He is able to play a variety of positions, IS FIT and is loyal to the club.
Better getting rid of the UNFIT players. VARDY as an example will be lucky to get on the field

Stokesy had a go in the ruck on Friday night, just prior to Hawkin's final goal. Given that Selwood had a go in the preseason too, fair to say we'll try anything once!

Selwood has been going 3rd man up pretty regularly in recent weeks. Ditto Caddy, even more often.

He can't get a game in a side that's won one game for the year. AND they're wanting a top 20 pick for him.
You know it doesn't work that way. If he's fit and contracted they'll get a top 20 pick for him, unless there is a glut of similar prospects on the market

It's getting like that Big Fozza! Fair to say we'd be proper ****ed without him.

If I had my choice who we went for - Danger 1 and Yarran 2. Add those two to our side - Clark and Stanley fit - wow that could be one good side. Maybe even a dash of Cockatoo.

Danger is a seriously good player. Yarran is a line breaker and a beautiful kick into the forward 50. With all the run we would have, including some of the big guys, teams would have a very hard time stopping our run and our spread. And that is modern footy - breaking quickly to get around opposition defences and then getting back as quickly as possible when we turn it over. Leg speed is becoming more and more important. Then if these players can get the ball often and then can use it - wow. Yarran and Danger would be ideal. Would probably make us the quickest side in the league.

My mates and I were discussing this exact thing last weekend. Like Yarran.
