Another game in not playing Stanley or Fort... Yes we will beat Suns, but poor Fort honestly.... his form in the VFL he should be getting rewarded over Esava... As a ruck...He had 4 hit outs, plus Blitz is just is more rewarding as a defender..

Fort Stats playing this year averaging 106 ranking points, 19.8 possessions, 14.5 contested possessions, although only 23.5 hit-outs-to-advantage of his 21 hit-outs per game.

Fort is a journeyman at best. Bit like Orren Stephenson but we know what Stanley is all about and he is far too inconsistent so perhaps the club should just roll the dice in the next month and play Ratugolea/Fort as the rucks, and move Blicavs to FB as we face the likes of Bulldogs, Lions and Power.

Agree, except, Stanley is important and will play finals, hopefully with Sav. Fort is not up to being a modern day AFL ruckman. VFL excellence should not get us sucked in.

Fort has only played five games as number one ruck at AFL level (was mostly forward in his first few games) and did alright in all of them apart from getting beaten by Grundy in the second half of one game. Played against Gawn, Witts, and Grundy in those games who were the best three going around at the time. Not sure where anyone gets the idea that he's a worse option than Stanley to be honest.

Big O was a far better ruck then Fort or Stanley. Would kill for a 27 year old big O to be on our list right now

Stanley gets a lot more of the ball than Fort. In those games where Fort was #1 ruck, he averaged something like 8 or 9 disposals. Stanley averages 16 this year. Rucking is more than hit outs.

He only averaged 9 touches, 2 marks, 2 clearances and 19 hitouts per game. Was hopeless and was also 29 when we drafted him.

Darcy Fort is averaging almost identical numbers so far after 8 games played.

Years back i watched a Melb v Rich game - and Stephenson was opposed to Jamar in the ruck

And Jamar that day looked like Simon Madden - he totally annihilated Stephenson

Orren wasnt much chop - except for that 1st half he played against the Hawks ( Hawkins after siren game )

I said 27 year old big O not 29.

we never saw the best of him. Kept getting minor injuries when he was with us.

Not sure we will target a ruck in FA next year. Ratugolea and Blicavs are doing okay, we have a promising but raw option on the rookie list, and I suspect we will probably re-sign one of Fort or Stanley. Im never against trading for good players but a draft pick to develop is probably enough.

Fort is contracted for next year, it's Stanley who's out of contract

How has fort got such a long contract when he cant even get in the side.
I wouldn't call 2 years a long contract

We've been in the situation over recent years where we've had multiple rucks all come out of contract in the same year, and we changed that up last year with Stanley signing a 1-year extension and Fort then signing on for 2 years

Fort's 2-years is likely also for insurance as Stanley is 30 and not necessarily the most durable player. We probably didn't want to end up in a situation where Stanley retires/leaves at the end of this season, and also have Fort out of contract with the potential of losing both without necessarily having someone else come in
