yeah, but I wouldve thought games in Tonga, Samoa, Fiji etc would be more appropriate. You have a point with the cost thing I spose.
while Tonga and Samoa will transfer to the United Kingdom to finish their qualifying matches against England and France in late October and early November.
Well they seem to have enough money for this.

Why not home and away?

Probably got something to do with it making more money out here?

Oh well, at least they are doing something.:thumbsu:

Why are all the world cup qualifiers being played in Sydney suburbs?
They aren't.

I gather you didn't study geography at school.

The United States and Europe are not in Australia.

good god you're anally attentive to detail - it's obvious we were talking about the alternative of playing these matches in their pacific island home countries.

Pacific Island nations Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and Fiji are preparing to contest a round-robin qualifying tournament for the 2008 World Cup, starting next Friday, 29th September with a double-header at Campbelltown Stadium.

The action will continue five days later at Western Weekender Stadium in St Mary’s, on Wednesday, 4th October, where the teams will swap opponents as they battle to qualify for Rugby League’s main event in 2008.

The final match will be played between Fiji and Cook Islands on Saturday, 7th October at CUA Stadium.

Seeing as these are small island nations seperated by thousands of km's of Pacific Ocean, staging their matches in a couple of locations in close proximity, and within a short timespan, looks like sound planning.

What is the alternative?
