FUSO and Melbourne Storm tackle toughness with 'OF US'

TRUCK manufacturer, FUSO, in partnership with reigning premiers, Melbourne Storm, has announced the launch of 'OF US' - an initiative to raise awareness and support for grassroots toughness.

The initiative's name, 'OF US', was created as an anagram from FUSO and will feature on back of Storm's jersey in their clash against ladder leaders St. George Illawarra Dragons, on Thursday 5 July at AAMI Park.

With Storm players some of the toughest in the league, 'OF US' was created as an invitation to become 'One OF US' and celebrate fans who show toughness, which can happen both on and off the field. Kick-starting the initiative, Melbourne Storm called on supporters' friends and family to nominate a mate as their chosen 'tough one' for the chance to win a money-can't-buy Mates' Day experience.

"At FUSO, we're known for our tough trucks - but toughness comes in many forms. 'OF US' was created to acknowledge individuals who have shown undeniable toughness in the face of adversity and to highlight the importance of support groups," said FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation Director, Justin Whitford.

Local Kilmore man and ex-police officer, Scott Garbutt, has been selected as Melbourne Storm's 'tough one' ahead of the upcoming match after being nominated by his wife, Libby Garbutt. Libby says Scott is not only an avid Melbourne Storm supporter and member, but her best friend, who shows toughness on a daily basis while learning to cope with his PTSD.

Hosted by Storm, the Mates' Day experience will see Scott and three guests, including wife Libby, meet and greet with the team and receive tickets to the best seats in the house: right alongside the team on the players' bench.

Scott will also be invited by Storm Head Coach, Craig Bellamy, to the team's Captain's Run training session the day before the match, giving them exclusive behind-the-scenes access. If Storm beat the Dragons, Scott and his guests will also, take part in the team's infamous post-match lap of honour.

"At Melbourne Storm it's not just about making an impact on the field, but away from it too in conjunction with our partners. Toughness can be displayed just as much away from game day and Scott's story is an example of determination and strength and we are looking forward to giving him, his wife Libby and friends a memorable 'OF US' experience on Thursday night," said Melbourne Storm CEO, Dave Donaghy.

It's FUSO's third year partnership with Storm, having first commenced their relationship in 2016 as shorts partner, with year being the first FUSO has appeared on the upper back of Storm's home and away jersey.

Following Storm's Mates' Day battle on Thursday, one limited edition, signed 'OF US' jersey will be auctioned to the public. Funds raised will be donated to Melbourne Storm's community partner, LIVIN, an organisation aimed at helping break the stigma around mental health.

Not that it mattered, no one would be watching anyway! :D
What the hell are you on about? o_O

what a putrid jumper clash in WSR tonight.
And yes, that was utterly ridiculous. With the torrential rain, it didn't help. It was silly considering we have a WA-coloured kit we could have worn; but NAIDOC, and the indigenous jersey had to be worn. Still, maybe the indigenous jersey could have been a different colour?

Who are they playing?
Force played a Samoa residents XV

Some shots of the kits worn at the Wallabies trial match today at Leichhardt Oval. Blue team is a team made up Aussie "possibles" from Super Rugby and the Western Force; the team in charcoal are an "Australian XV" who could be considered "probables"

Note, the charcoal kit is the "Captains Run" kit, which doubles as the Wallabies away kit. I think it looked pretty good on the night...
