Great first game by Tom Ruggles. Intercept marks, composure, accurate disposals and got stuck in when he needed to. Does he have a touch of Scarlo about him?

Very good by foot today when most on the field seemed to struggle to hit targets.
A very good debut. Takes his time. Makes good decisions. Surprisingly quick across the ground.

Really strong game for a 1st gamer. Foot skills and decision making stood out, wasn't overawed. I thought he was our best defender behind Enright and really the spot should be his for the time being. Would like to see how he goes with a lock down role though.
Not sure it could have gone much better than that for Tom. He looked steady , if not better than that most of the time. Took the game on a couple times and made it work. Hit the passes he went for , actually looked neater by foot than id seen him before. Seemed proficient overhead. Really nice blend of tough , no nonsense type with enough run and skill to get the job done and his body is play now ready. If he can become a player for us with a very late Rookie pick , it really changes the mantra of selling our future blah,blah,blah.

Excellent debut...was sold by hand and foot, and doesn't lack courage either. Seems to have a bit of mongrel in him as well.
Wont be the last we see of him by a long shot. Got a vote from me for his performance and I wasn't the only one.

I think we might actually have found two pretty good players in Menegola and Ruggles. Early call because we only seen a tiny flash of Menegola and not much more of Ruggles but I could see both being 100 gamers.
We have to find the draft capital for them though.

What I liked about him, is he plays a little taller by taking marks in the pack. He too kicks stabbing punt kicks, so getting to his teammates quicker.
The latter is good to see as we have a few that kick and hope a bit.

With Enright possibly hanging up he boots this season, Ruggles has come along at just the right time. Similar type of players (Boris obviously on a whole other level). Has stepped straight in and hopefully can become a mainstay in years to come. Should only get better. Has quite an attacking aspect to his game which we will hopefully see more of as he settles in and becomes more confident.

Would like to see Ruggles and Thurlow in the same team in the future.
Wonder now if Bews can lift or if he's at his ceiling already. Will be interesting to see rest of the year now.
