Did you interpret that from the game ? Original type thought Piv. ..or is from other stuff as well..

There is no shortage of titbits of colour ... really keen , always asking for info , having to be told that he is an AFL level player now and train accordingly ... then commentary in game.. DB taking about his well lived in head , DR mentioning a bit of nasty.. it all adds up to a guy with some flavour.
I dont think he is a vanilla type our Tom.
I'd never really seen much of him prior to this year as I don't watch much VFL so my comments are purely based on first impressions.

But he strikes me as an unflappable type and a little more mature than his birth certificate suggests. In his post game interview on the Cats website I thought he came across as a guy who knew what he wanted and has some serious internal drive to prove a few things.

I might be very wrong though.

:D

Very glad this guy is on our list. If he is not Best 22, he is very close to it. IMO, I'd keep Ruggles in defence, and allow Guthrie more time in the midfield.

Id agree with that , he comes across as having a certain confident air for someone with his background. I would have seen 2 or 3 VFL games last year and I doubt I commented on him at all..obviously VFL player do draw less attention as they can not become AFL players for us , but I can remember commenting on Rees and a couple of others.. when I look at him there is something that reminds me of Brad Sholl.. be good if he can replicate him.

I'd like to know what he is called internally , nicknames for him seem to be rather unimaginative.

Good point.........but you gotta get the bloody ball first which Bews doesn't ........but hey who gives a **** about that.......he can run fast!.....put him in!

Seems you use the same flawed thinking as the Josh Walker lovers...he's young....our future...he's got great hands and a big tank....

Yea sure, but he can't freaking kick.

Bews will soon have more than Mackie in his way...there's a couple of half back draftees who with another pre-season under their belt will be pushing for consideration...Bews is a depth player and not much more.

Agree completely :thumbsu: In terms of the Mackie replacement (Thurlow the obvious one in 2017) for now then I'd probably say Cunico reminds me more of Mackie then Bews does.

But sadly Cunico is no more. #RIPCunico

What happened to him? I see no link any info?

Official Cats said he was on a modified program... Was it a Toohey type issue it Hartman like...
Sad to see him leave the club...

Nah no story about him aha I was just mucking around, as far as I know he's on a modified program but confusing as to why he isn't on the injury list though :/

Not dead then...

Got it.

Imagine that... confusion thru text only...

How did you all rate Mr. Rugglesworth's game on the weekend? Seems a solid outing.

Solid is a good way of describing his performance...certainly deserves to hold his place....seemed to have sublime foot skills which won't go astray in this Geelong side.

I thought he made Christensen look pretty ordinary on more than one occasion.

What's Ruggles job security like? Who are the likely types (if any) to take his spot? Cheers in advance

We have very few players that fit his model/style. Bews is the obvious one.. overall our backline is in a state of transition... Thurlow, Kolo , Henderson , perhaps Guthrie , now perhaps Ruggles are the new group... Enright will go at the end of the year..so if he is up to it.. there is a place for him.

“I had spoken with Stephen Wells as an 18-year-old and kept in contact with him. One of the things he said was, ‘If there is anything you want to know, just call’, so I kept in contact about the areas I needed to work on, stuff like speed and fitness, plus decision-making.

“And there were times when I was always the kicker and could have used other people around me. So I sent Stephen a text a day before the rookie draft saying, ‘With the rookie draft coming up tomorrow I don’t want to leave anything to chance and because I haven’t spoken with you yet, could I have a chat?’ He said come in and we spoke for 20 minutes.”

The Cats took Ruggles with their last pick (44) and it didn’t take the Drysdale boy long to make an impact, playing in the NAB Challenge and then becoming a regular senior face this year in the absence of the injured Jackson Thurlow.

Already got a toast thread for being upgraded, but he deserves it bumped for his past month or so of footy. He has been excellent. A very consistent year, in fact.

He has some sort of an attack on the ball as well.
And was one of many that were into Stringer every chance they got
