Now Johnson is gone for 4 weeks and Schammer is on the long term injury list, Is Darren Rumble the logical rookie upgrade. I know he's no Johnson but if he can hold down one of our key positions in the back line it may release Mundy and/or Grover to play a more creative role. Thoughts?

slightly unrelated but i was thinking about this the other day. if mcpharlin was to have a long term injury, our backup FBs would be grover, haddrill and rumble. all of them under 190cm

to answer the question, no i dont think rumble would be elevated at this point. he is effectively insurance for haddrill if he goes down again IMO

Losing any key player is going to casue some damage and re-arrangement of the team. FB is not the only position that would be asked to stop the FF getting the ball and kicking goals. Further up the ground things would need to tighten up I think, but at least Haddril and Grover (and Parker) compete well. Thornton may also be used.

I watched Rumble in the WAFL quite a bit last year. He has good hands and good football brain (read's the game very well), but I think is lack of pace could be a serious issue at AFL level.
