I hope he gets nothing

the US and the UK and Aus created the mess, its up to them to clean it up.

I hope that the Iraqi people get freedom from the illegal occupation of Iraq by the US and its immoral allies.

everyone deserves to be free from colonial intervention, and the sooner haliburton is stopped the better.

God forbid Iraq ends up anything like Afghanistan hey, Dan?
Indeed, God forbid Iraq ends up anything at all like Afghanistan. They might as well have stayed under Saddam if that's going to be the end result.

Sadly it doesn't look like God's going to fix either country in any great hurry.

Colonial intervention like Morocco in the Western Sahara, Indonesia in Irian Jaya etc. Dont hear you whingeing about them. No consistency.
Not that I'm condoning either Morrocco or Indonesia's actions, but to complete your analogy can you point out the border of the US and Iraq? A maritime border will do if necessary.

...... Oh there isn't one.

BTW .. on Afghanistan, bumped into RAMBO 3 whilst channel surfing. Fantastic rave by some bearded 'freedom fighter' with Rambo nodding in agreement. Looked alot like Osama - what goes around comes around.

Sorry FBF I was ignoring your Michael Mooresque drivel, but Q's rather disgusting suggestion that Iraq should remain under Saddam Hussein provoked a response.

FBF, Afghanistan has held it's first elections ever.

Women voted.

Since the fall of the Taliban over a million Afghanistan refugees have returned to Afghanistan.

I know this must hurt you - far better to have Afghani's paying thousands of dollars to smugglers so they can be put in detention camps in Australia - but really for just once in your life, when something demonstrably good happens, do ya think ya might find it in your heart not to tear it down to support your pathetic middle-class Western pseud prejudices?

But why did Kazari feel the need to cheat? If we believe the media he is so popular he would have been a shoe in.

As the election observers stated "It was less than free and fair.'

If the Americans and Kazari were serious about bringing democracy to Afgahistan, they would admit to the irregularities and run it again.

You must have me confused with dan warna or demon dave. I have nothing but happiness for the people of Afghanistan, it was great to see them being able to vote, great seeing women voting(and competing in the Olympics). I have nothing but disgust for the Taliban and was happy to see them go.

What I don't understand is why the US felt it was nescessary to interfere in the Democratic process and pressure other candidates to drop out of the race? it is a democracy after all, isn't it?

Unfortunately, it's back to the future ..

The Afghan drugs trade is growing so fast some fear the country could become a narco-state, where drugs barons rule, not the government.

This was a reason given for the initial rise of the Taliban.

Agree on this point given we were part of the mess. As John Kerry has said both debates - the military did their bit to win the war but what about winning the peace. GWB and his cronies had no plan to win the peace - thought it would be a stroll in the park - moron.

we spent 1 billion or so on the war, less than 10m in reconstruction... similar numbers/ratio in the US, I can't see dishonest johnny spending 1B to fix the damage done by us/US and the UK...

why should NATO or the UN fix the mess the US created??
