From our esteemed friend over at TWG:

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/jesse-fink/blog/1040265/The-World-Cup-goes-to-court

Not sure if this is just Fink blowing hot air out his arse or if there really is something to this story. Interesting to see that in the bidding regulations all competitors were "bidding for the right to host World Cup 2022 in the months of June & July".

Looks like FIFA is up shit creek - they cannot change the tournament to a January one as per their original agreement and insurance companies will not cover footballers playing in the oppressive mid year heat.

On top of that Bin Hammam is punching on with Blatter, if Bin Hammam doesn't get the presidency and Blatter gets voted out it looks like there will be some serious questions asked of Qatar's suitability to host 2022.

Blatter must think that the Yanks are stupid and didn't remember that in FIFA's regulations it clearly states that they are bidding for the right to host the 2022 World Cup in the months of June and/or July. Now that a January tournament is out of the question, what do FIFA do about Qatar 2022?

Guess we'll find out how powerful Blatter and FIFA really are- can they simply contravene one of their own guidelines and thumb their noses at other bidding countries? Wonder of australia, Japan and south Korea would support the suit, or would they be good Asian toadies to bin Hamman?

We won't back Bin Hammam, an east/west split is more likely as Australia, Sth Korea and Japan want him out. We"ll join in with you guys and take FIFA to the cleaners.

It looks like in asia the countries agree on an asian cup host, then present FIFA with only one alternative. Imagine if that happened for the world cup

Apparently last nights asian cup final was a fantastic game, even though there werent lots of top 'names'

Perhaps asian football is showing the way

Ob topic. If a court examined the bids on merit, then USA would have won by a mile
