Geez. I reckon John Anthony is a rabbit. I've been a big fan of Tbird for years cos he's got ticker and always had a crack. I don't think we NEED a KPD. Most teams are using a zone or press defence. Collingwood's premiership defence was led by captain two fist himself nick maxwell. NICK MAXWELL!!! Watch the way he plays and then compare with a back six that comprises TBird Jamo and 'Jack' Bower-(24hrs - 24 episodes). They have the potential to be as good as the pies back six

I think Brett has been unlucky to be put aside. True KPD's dont come through trades because they are too valuable. We have the midfield. We nearly have the forward line (hendo is going to carve up next year). Defence is the key to premierships (generally) and most of the recent premiers have had a very team orientated defensive attitude (3rd man up etc). Brett Thornton's aerial judgment makes him an ideal defensive quarterback type. Scotland and Gibbs have been used there, but use them as the second link in the chain. That way the forward line delivery is going to be immacculate (hopefully).

I hope this trade doesn't go through, and Tbird ends up getting another crack. He can also take contested marks. Hmm. maybe i should start a fan club, but it could possibly be the shortest lived fan club ever if he goes!!

Way off mate.

T-Bird is selfish, and correctly barely got a game after he criticised someone from out leadership group on the field.

Saying that the Pies don't have key position players is ludicrous. Maybe it is just less obvious because 5/6 of them are KPD size, but ultra-athletic.

I reckon you've won that. I'd rather Collins than Grigg.
Grigg is the better alround footballer, yet I'm not cut at losing one fringe player for another fringe player. SG won't be in our best 22 with Lucas, Yarran and Mclean also missing the final. I'd rather bring in and keep players who want to play with Carlton. Grigg will be more than a role player and release their better kicks, yet he will also turn it over like a few of our bottom six. Harder than Tambling and an inside mid, but the ex-Tiger is arguably a better kick.

A long term replacement for Tuck.

I'd back Ratten's judgement over Hardwick's after Grigg reportedly demanded the game time he didn't deserve. Anyone who wants out after playing the last ten games and figuring in the best players is a sulk with a bad attitude. I'm already looking forward to adding this year's picks plus Dylan Buckley to get our hands on players who kick like an AFL footballer.
He's really quite a talented player if you ask me.

Can play up forward and find the goals, and has the ability to move into the midfield a little later in his career.

Good pickup. Lots of upside.
Collins has a frame that will fill out.

Andrew Collins at the JD Dyer Medal

Anthony is a one track footballer. Will only make or defend a lead. I was interested in Mckinley because I think he could be more than that.

Not to mention getting Anthony means having to deal with Pies supporters

Remember someone saying that Geelong did the wrong thing by rushing Enright back after Laidler was doing so well in his absence...he obviously impressed few people.

Would release gibbs and is only 21.

in other news, don't judge me but stalked Hibberd's facebook and one of his mates (i assume) says im regards to him getting back to Melbourne from a footy trip "Hurry up and get back so you can pull the black and red on"

ie. Essendon

yay for creepiness :)

A strange one...would have thought we had plenty of his type....solid footballer but not overly quick...can play forward or back

2nd round pick for a 21 year old ex-rookie who's played 2 games?

My thoughts exactly.

The amount of games he has played to this point in his career is completely irrelevant. As is the fact that he was initially recruited in the rookie draft.

Are you saying that because he couldn't break into a backline containing Milburn, Mackie, Corey, Enright and Kelly, amongst others, he isn't worth bringing to the club?

Perplexing.

I don't know much about Laidler and I've never seen him play, but to object to the club enquiring about him, or bringing him to the club, on the basis that he's only managed 2 games as a 21 year old in one of the strongest teams we've seen in quite some time, is just ridiculous.

Furthermore, if we keep the pick, you'd be more in favour of getting a player that is younger, has played less games and is more unproven.

Yet we should stay away because he's only played 2 games at 21 years of age.

I just don't understand that mentality.

The something " BIG " by a club starting with Visy call by Pelchin on sen friday seems to have had it's legs get cut completely off........

I'm looking forward to a big smile if something rediculously good happens for us but i can't see much happening.

Like you, I don't know much about him but it's not often a player improves from a rookie selection to a 2nd rounder purely on VFL form. Not doubting the club but it certainly caught me as a surprise.
