If we wanna get something come trade time we are going to have to give something. Hampson will be our big trade weapon.

We can cover him and Warnock is only good form away from pushing him out any way, though that form seems a little while off at this stage. If we do trade him we will draft a young ruckman. We also Kreuzer as our number 1 and Casboult and O'hAilpin as part timers. When the trade period arives ruckmen are expendable at our club.

With the new sub rule it's not a bad thing to play 1 genuine ruckman and one of Casboult or O'hAilpin.

Would be good to grab a star player that is GWS bound because Hampson is probably better than what clubs will get from GWS. Still I am tipping there will be no trade.

Kreuzer's value is already well beyond that of just a ruck. Hampson has potential but we have been saying that for a while now

Hampson++ for Trengrove? Why?
BIB or MS3 stated that the only way we'd look at off-loading Hampson would be under his own request to be moved on, ala Jacobs.
It may well hit the table, but I for one won't be excited for any potential trading here against one of our rucks.

There are a lot more rucks going down these day and if we had traded Hampson, and Warnock does down, what then?
Casboult won't be coming in for his ruck ability alone and quite frankly may not even make it come seasons end, and O'hAilpin (if retained) will not fill any forward post from here on in.

If GWS don't throw some money at Hammer I'd be surprised. The Saints might have a look too.

It might be hard to hold onto him with the promise of more game time and more money. (will test his loyalty. Where does Megan spend most of her time, Melbourne or Sydney?)

With Richmond in the Box Seat for Trengove it appears he is certain to be at Carlton next year :p. I think he will be great down back for us, but he would have to nominate Carlton as his club of choice, and some quality offered up for him.

I think a lot will come down to which pick we actually have to use for Buckley. If we could get Trengove in a trade for our 1st rd pick, and buckley with our 2nd rd pick, I think we will have done EXTREMELY well out of the draft/trade period. I don't think Port could complain too much if they recieved our 1st rd pick for Trengove, considering it's not too far off the 2nd rd pick they grabbed him at and he is (supposedly) wanting to come home. But as I said, that would depend on what Buckley will cost us .........

This :golfclap:

does anyone else get the feeling that buckley may not be what he seems? was highly touted but is bottom aged, tiny, skinny and has hardly set the world on fire in the tac cup (albeit now injured). he is also touted as a centreman/flanker, whom we currently have an abundance of? i'm slightly concerned with the early call to draft him

The clubs stance with Hammer at this stage is that he is a required player, but wont be totally shocked if he does want to seek a trade at the end of the year. The club will not float his name up, unless it is under his directive.

This. I can understand him possibly wanting to move, but hope he doesn't. The club would be mad to try to offload him.

I don't think we will, unless it's a Laidler type (as in 2 gamer who can't break in to a side, would be valuable to us for a 3rd rounder). Our chance of landing a big fish is slim, and I would say problematic given the position of our list. I would think keeping our list together should be a much bigger priority than poaching someone.

If Hammer was to leave, surely it will be to GWS? He can go and live in Glamourama with the misses, and get paid heaps more than at any other club.

The way Hammer has started playing lately, maybe that potential we keep talking about is starting to pay off. Took some really nice marks and was bloody good in the ruck before his knee went.
I have been a critic of Hammer's in the past but I would not get rid of him now, as Hark said earlier, we have put way too much time into him to just get rid of him now that he is starting to show something.

Like you I would love to start hearing some positive feedback re Dylan. He obviously showed promise early and has blueblood pedigree but reports on massive growth spurts and dominating, injury-free performances at state level (not much to ask surely) would ease my mind a tad.

I don't know Hampson, but you just get the impression he is one of those guys that needs to be backed to the hilt in order for him to perform at optimum levels.

Watching his body language and efforts in the Ants a few weeks ago, compared to his recent endeavours in the seniors, have been poles apart.

Just pushing Warnock out of the way for a moment, you just get the feeling we'd see a different Hamspon if he was given the responsibility of being our no. 1.

From my inquiries upon Dylan to that most magnanimous of intellectual benefactors who post here (Splendini of course):D it seems young Dylan is a smallish flanker type with good disposal and a bit of pace. Mostly playing as a small defender. Given his body type, and assuming he has the requisite footy brain I would be looking at developing him as a playmaker out of the backline to replace a Scotland or Yarran (presuming he moves into the midfield, not that he is homesick)

Yeah me too.
Hopefully he develops like a smarter, more skillful Armfield. Probably shouldn't expect to see him for a few years after drafting either

Just on Buckley:

Can someone recommend the best site to track his progress or at least game involvements?
Would it be taccup.com.au?

Agree with BiB on Hampson here.
After we have put so much time and effort into his development, we'd be mad to put him up on the trade table. However, if a club came to us with a trade that was too good to refuse, then we'd have to look at it. Either way, we're in the box seat.

If Goddard demanded a trade and St. Kilda came at us and asked for Hampson + 1st round pick (if Buckley slipped to us as a second rounder) would you do it?
Definitely. I would be close to rejecting it on sympathetic grounds for St Kilda though

Okay, fair play. Perhaps a better question. IF Goddard demanded a trade to Carlton what would you deem as fair/adequate compensation to them for him?

In their position, I would be after one of our #1 picks most likely. Probably Gibbs, and maybe even a sweetener (1st or 2nd round pick). The fact is, Goddard is a bonafide, big-game performing, match-winning gun. I think Gibbs will be (if not somewhat already) but Goddard is proven.

Would I ever trade Gibbs + a draft pick for Goddard? No way. Brycelet is younger, already a leader of the club and an absolute jet on the field. And nor would I entertain a Gibbs-Goddard straight swap. But I think that's what most people would consider "reasonable" compensation.

Does Meegs live here or in Sydney? I've lost touch with her after all these years.
