Was only an opinion of Simon Wilson, and what the club could have done had they not wanted to start world war 3 with the AFL.

Yes was only an opinion, untested but whilst I am no legal expert, I have often thought many of the draft and salary cap laws of the game are open to interpretation and legal challenge and have been waiting for a court challenge that hasnt come.

And whilst Collo and the board decided to kiss and make up with the AFL after the damage Elliot had done to the relationship (Evans and Samual didnt need any extra motivation and in a way I dont blame Jack for sticking it to them as, for a while the AFL seemed like an Essendon old boys club), many will read this as yet another way that Collo managed to screw the club.

I dont agree, and think that letting it go and getting on with it was probably the best course of action, and given the list we had, Goddard would not have made much difference. It may be that he would be handy over the next couple of years as his career comes to its natural end and our team rises to the top but we will rise anyway so whilst it is an interesting discussion I prefer not to wallow in the victim mentality of what it cost us and look forward all the more to the resurgence having tasted the bile. (In fact if you think Goddard was a massive loss then having him may have meant not winning the Kruezer cup and getting Judd)

Divorcing Big Footy, malman?

... Or just heading overseas for a bit?

Overseas for a few years mate.

Backpacking RTW. First stop North America (Mardi Gras in NO). South America next with Machu pichu on the radar. Then off to the UK via iceland for the Mongol rally.

Be back in a few years. Maybe.

Im calling the trip: The wrong way round.

Ill be logging on from time to time for a laugh.

Might start a thread in the Blue room to document the trip... catch up with a few of our expats on the way. Dramoth is in the UK i think?

Will do.

Just point me in the direction of the Eastern European ladies. I make a good wingman.

May be able to point you towards some wild ladies clubs in conservative Prague.
Just hope you to be geared up to the max, to survive.

Cheers Mal. We'll miss you mate. :thumbsu:

Nothing in it Sin, just a piece on how we shoulda coulda challenged aspects of the draft penalty that would have netted Goddard, should shake the board to its foundations

"Ian Collins was of the view that it was more important for Carlton to develop a good working relationship with the AFL than it was to challenge them on the imposition.

It has been done to death in the past... and getting done to death again over on the Campo thread. We were going to challenge the ruling on our priority pick, but after 'Big Jack' had systematically destroyed our working relationship with the AFL commission any sort of fight would have seen something like the Storm penalties introduced.

But besides, Wayne "I'm a w***er" Jackson had it in for us because of 'Big Jack' and his attitude.

Then-AFL chief executive Wayne Jackson said at the time that Carlton "deserved everything they got, and arguably, some more".

We were always going to get both barrels up the arse from Jackson, who imposed a massive penalty because of both the scope cap infringements and because of his on-going feud with 'Big Jack'.

Give us a shout when you hit these gray and gloomy shores :)

He is at a meeting in the CBD at the moment, but hopefully he will be able to bring us right up to speed with Malifice's plans as soon as he gets out of the meeting.

I thought he was down at the physio in North Melbourne getting his troublesome OP looked at.
