Some dude on SEN suggested that we're trading Russell and our 1st. draft pick for Butcher.
Can't be wrong, could he?

Edit:
Another dude has Dawes coming to Carlton.
Trade week is going well for us, so far.

lol, i can see this happening and Mitchell turning out a champion and number 1 pick turning out a champion and every one going on about what if we kept our pick and had [insert number 1 pic].

It's easy to speculate on good players not getting a game and avoid the bleading obvious reasons.

Sorry mate, wasn't taking a pot shot just can't think of any big fish not already mentioned ad nauseum in the media.

Hahaha. Sorry if my reply came out grumpy; it wasn't intended that way.

I went off to look at a few other club boards, but lost my mojo after several didn't have a contract status thread stickied. All I really found was Essendon have no one of note out of contract.

Like I said though, my reason for posting was to see if anyone wanted to take a stab at which out of contract big fish hadn't been discussed already. Unfortunately I've come here to take only, not contribute :o:D

That's funny, what I've heard floating around the Ants club rooms is that a contract is only a matter of numbers.

I don't think people realise how much Jordan loves the club. He's one of those guys that plays for it, not himself, hence his judgement call to spend time with the Bullants rather than take a spot of a player in better form.

I just can't see it any way other than you have stated here.
It's just not in Jordan's character and especially so that we backed him when others may not have.

Butcher has played how many good games? Experts have said he has obvious flaws other than his kicking. And he is a Port player and as we have learnt from Melb do we want to accept discards from a bottom team?

LOL. Butcher is far from a discard.

Remember he is a KPP who will take a touch longer probably to make it than your run of the mill midfielder.

I would compare him similar to Watson or Lucas for us. Where not many opposition supporters see much and they have proven nothing. They pick the obvious flaws and discard potential.

Most of us here have high hopes for Watson and Lucas!

Port are exactly the same with Butcher!

It's funny, on the "Draft and Trade" boards they are saying Carlton would need to AT LEAST give up Gibbs + Pick for Butcher :eek::eek: BF flogs astound me at times ........

If Butcher wants to go back to Melbourne, and by all reports that is the case, Port's hands are tied. I'd be willing to part with Austin or White and a third or fourth rounder for him. If they don't want that, he can opt for the draft and they will lose him for nothing.

That comment is just as far fetched as Gibbs + picks for Butcher...
Butcher is a high commodity and will be in high demand...I would love to see him at the club, but we would have to give something decent up to get him...make no mistake about it.

Just depends on IF he wants to leave port and what we would be willing to give up for him....

A future forward line with McInnes and Butcher as our FF and CHF would be very nice indeed...

Fev is dreaming of a Carlton comeback. Photo evidence here.

You'd have to be a moron to dismiss out of hand the value Fev would bring to our forward line.

That's quite interesting to see, that image.

I'm starting to make my way from firmly 'no Fev' onto the fence. It would be magnificent to see him in a Carlton guernsey again, but the risk still outweighs the reward.

You'd have to be a moron to even consider him.
No, really no. Doggies, Pies, West Coast and Hawthorn showed us why. No forward target. Jamo forward "just make a contest" shows how desperate we are up there.

And there's talk about Dawes??? Pffft. He's no Fev, nor is Waite even at his best, but with Fev alongside him and Walker, then we have a formidable forward line with flexibility down back.

Fev's had 33 goals in five games at VFL level. Fit and firing, obviously keen, X factor, completes our team balance.

And still no-one has been able to produce any categorical evidence that he is not at least being considered by the Carlton board. All the evidence - as limited as it is - is pointing the other way.

Such shortsightedness...
