Just posting what I've heard. Same source that dished up the Roberton stuff a couple of months ago which has now been leaked this past week from other sources. I agree that the Bulldogs are on the rough end of that one. They must really, really want out from Lake's contract if there is any truth to it. I trust my source but that one is a little out there. I'm thinking that the Dogs do it if it were pick 15 rather than 31. 31? Not so much. GWS would probably do it for 15 too, particularly if GCS give them #4 for Jags pick. I did miss talking to said source last evening but found it in e-mail when I woke up around 2:00am.

To Bulldogs: 31 (GWS second round pick) and 62 (Carlton third round pick)

Carlton not paying a dime on McLean's tab, picking up Lake's contract in exchange. Giving up our third round pick for the talent differential.

Would take that in a heartbeat. Bulldogs must have no confidence in Lake however.

The more I think about it the more I'm concerned with Lake's injuries. It's not the type of cap friendly contract that would be easily moved if it didn't work out. In fact, if his injuries were the type that ensured he was never the A grade player that he had been it could really hurt our premiership chances as we'd be stuck with it and unable to add a different player of quality..... And if that's the price (Bulldogs receiving definite unders) it makes me think they know something that we do not.

Could not see the Dogs losing lake for so little even if he was permanently injured!

He was AA! I still remember him carving us up a couple of years ago.

I think he wants out faster than a curry the next morning after a heavy night out ... and the dogs will probably go a mini rebuild but letting him go for that deal regardless of how badly both parties want out is just very hard to believe.

That said a GWS pick 15 somewhere in there and maybe a small sweetner on our part could seem feasible.

I would expect a thorough medical on our part and if the guy gets it wrong loses his job!

Definatly do not doubt it. Just makes you worry a bit if they are that desperate to get rid of him what are we buying into?

We'd be wasting our time with Lake. Doesn't seem to be the type of guy people love to have at a club either.

He's very talented and has runs on the board but his decline this year has been too dramatic for my liking.

Ideally we'd get Buckley with a 3rd rounder and try to upgrade our second round pick to use on a KPF then take best available at pick 22.

Still holding out hope for Koby Stevens/Armitage

I just posted this on the trading board as well, but if the rumours are true about Carlton and Melbourne in trade talks yesterday over Irish, I certainly wouldn't be against it if we could grab someone like Matthew Bate to the club. Had some good VFL form this year but couldn't repeat it in the seniors. Mabye a new club and a better midfield could help him become a better player??

Not sure if Melbourne would just take Irish for him but even if we had to chuck in a fourth rounder or something I would be interested.

I'd rate Irish over Bate. Bate hasn't done anything at the AFL level. At the very least Irish has always provided a contest and offers a lot of second and third efforts that aide our small and medium forwards. It's little wonder the team usually plays better with him in the side.

Agree with what your saying but Bate has been playing for Melbourne....

Bate also is 25 next year whereas Irish will be 29.

Would much rather Bate over M.Warnock though
