Any truth in the rumour that Retravision has opted not to continue as the major SFL sponsor?
Any truth in the rumour that Amateur Clubs actually pay players?
of course they do... my old club which is situated across the road from Dairy Bell in East Malvern.. had their major club sponsors "employ" (which I use the term VERY loosely) a lot of the senior players...
and I used to work with an ex-richmond player now playing at Old Xavs in the Ammos.. and I asked him what they "give" him each year.. when I asked him what they "gave" him 2 years ago, he replied "have you seen my car out the front? nice isn't it!".. and when I asked him what they "gave" him last year, he replied "let's just say I ain't paying a cent for my house renovations"...
Yes but would they drop an "A" grade side or "B" grade side i would think not PS,they save face by dropping a lower graded Club.Peninsula Grammar Old Boys just got relegated for paying. So it does go on a LOT

The Plebs at those higher div clubs just wouldn't allow for it.Enjoy your Tea and Scones my friend.![]()
Exclude Hampton Rovers from such notoriety. The best we've done is find jobs for our players. Can't compete with these schoolboy teams that have somehow managed to convince the likes of Tony Brown, Stewie Loewe, Robert Harvey, Shane Crawford & co to play at their club.
It's not even an "almost Amateur" competition anymore. The powers that be seem to see this as some sort of coup for the Association to have the big names running around, when really it's only ruining the fabric of what is supposed to be Amateur Football.
The league is evolving and will soon be a competition where they will no longer have to turn a blind eye and paying players will be an acceptable practice.
With 4 of your former clubs now playing with the Ammos, 2 now with Eastern and another off to the MPNFL in 2010, I’d be more concerned about your comp than the odd might-have, could-have, maybe-they-did fourth hand rumours about Ammo payments.![]()

I'd counted South Melbourne Districts. Does that make 5?
Which club is off to the MPNFL thats a new one?
i'd say dingley. went to the shit, found a bit of success in lesser comp, got some players back and will probably head back to casey cardinia before realising they can't make, turn to shit again and head back to sfl in about 2012!!![]()

Where's Shane Crawford playing? I hear Ben Holland, Michael Rix. Jess Sinclair and maybe Ben Dixon are B grade bound to Old Carey and OT and Old Camberwell- not the right thread i know but am curious? There also might be an ex tiger bound for Old Mentonians. on the other note i am involved in a d grade club and we have never paid players but we do find them jobsExclude Hampton Rovers from such notoriety.
