good to see it's finally clicked with Ash and he's living up to some of his potential B2010 :thumbsu:

Hurley is already better than Walker who is a third year tall.

Hurley has dominated against men at both ends of the ground in his second year, yet had an interrupted pre-season and 2010 due to injury and his court case. If you can't see that Hurley has a high ceiling, then I guess you're only talking to Crows fans about the best young players in the AFL. Hurley is one of the best kicks with both feet in the AFL, yet he's a big man and not a mid.

Better than Walker.

Walker was only 19 at the start of this year and dominated the SANFL in his first year like no other teenager in living memory.

He's dominated a lot of games already, and has kicked a lot of goals for somebody in his stage of development.

If you can't see that Walker will be one of the premier forwards in the comp for the next decade, then I can see why you think offering a mediocre player to us would be viable.

And Walker is pretty good at slotting goals from the 50 on his wrong foot, for somebody who doesn't have one. If you'd seen anymore of Walker than his highlights, you'd know this.

You using that as a reason why Hurley is clearly better, considering both have excellent footskills on either side, makes me think you're entire argument is based on fiction.

I saw Walker's champs, was very impressive. I also saw a lot of Hurley as a junior..... I'd take Hurley out of the two any day of the week, without blinking.

Not really BB7.......this year my time has been a bit divided amongst stuff, and have avoided GWS TAC games ;) :p, I saw him in one champs game at Visy. Presented well and worked hard...has good pace and a nice leap, has something to work with, but would have a lot of talls in front of him IMO.

"Sure - and how many games does this Splendini fella get to?"

That's all well and good, but is not the case if Walker does ask to be traded.

Don't even start to think that you'll get something that represents his value if he asks for a trades, especially if he specifies 1 or 2 clubs of preference.

Judd went for Kennedy, pick 3 and pick 20.

At the time of that trade the only elite talent was Judd.

WCE picked Masten and Notte who are closer to being delisted than being elite.

And Kennedy isn't someone I'd classify as elite either - although an excellent player on his day.

If Walker demands a trade it is highly unlikely you'll be getting anything 'elite' for him in return.

Walker is contracted for next season. So in the case he did request a trade (very unlikely) the club who wanted him would have to pay through the roof.

I wasn't playing the man.

Your suggested trades are fantastic works of what ifs and maybes.

The Croad trade came about because Fremantle were idiots and traded down.

That's hardly the guide for trading 101.

The odds of getting Gibbs' value in a market where the GC hold all the cards is nil.

List structure can change if players develop or fail to develop.

We don't have anywhere near the strong midfield and flankers that is constantly thrown up in the media. That's at least two years away and dependant on Gibbs, Grigg, Robinson, Lucas, Yarran and Buckley developing into first choice mids.

And Mclean managing to get through a 22 game season.

Gibbs won't be traded.

Feel free to keep swinging away in hope and using a loyal 21 year old as bait.

You might hit one in a thousand balls out of the park. :thumbsu:

No to Walker for Gibbs.

TAKE NOTE PPL.... FFS! sick of this gibbs to adel for bulls#@t. He aint going anywhere!!!

LOL.

Your insulated small town view is amusing.

Michael Hurley, Rising Star: Rd 18

Yeah I can throw Youtube videos in as well.

I'll repeat: Walker is just as good a kick on both legs (kicks further as well), and his left foot finishes have been more impressive than that quality, but slightly ungainly finish from Hurley there against the Hawks. I suggest you do your research and have a look - make a note of watching his finishes against the Lions in the final term at AAMI Stadium this year, and his left foot delivery to Dangerfield against Essendon at AAMI. Kid's all class.

Just as the Bombers would be remiss to consider letting Hurls go, we wouldn't entertain the idea of saying goodbye to Walker. Ridiculous trade suggestions being thrown around, and ludicrous to suggest that he'd request a trade from Adelaide. If you knew the situation you'd know this.

I suggest you show a capacity to understand that not one single person on this thread has agreed with you on the subject so just deal with it.

FWIW i agree Walker has the potential to be an elite talent but i would also take Hurley ahead of him due to his versatlity. ;)

Another thing I'd like to point out is how patently ridiculous the "small town" mentality claim is. Victoria rams its players down the rest of the country's throat, believe me, we know who the good prospects are in and around Melbourne. You can't hide from the noise.

It generally works one way - we get a shitload of Victorian coverage in with our own; you guys see very little of us.

I doubt it.
Kreuzer is the only Carlton player i'd want for Walker, mind you with his knee it might be a risk.

Carlton has very little that interests me in terms of topline talent.
Walker only failed to go top 10 in the draft because we got him through other avenues.

He's a 20 KPP who has kicked more goals at AFL level at his age than many of his contemporary's. Gibbs + 1st rounder, you'd get in the room.

You wouldn't straight swap Walker for Gibbs. You'd want to significantly increase it beyond a 3rd rounder which is a nothing pick.

This is despite the fact that if every bloke who got dropped and gave the coach an opinion about it (allegedly) no one would play 50 club games anywhere. Secondly, you're all dreaming if he you think he'd go anywhere other than GWS on a legitimate $800K a year rather than a cardboard box version of that much.

We are more likely to use Knights in a trade with potentially our Bock pick (fingers x'd) to get someone like Griffen home.
It's pretty obvious Walker will though, he's a very young KPP and has shown glimpses of dominance. IMO he will end up a more valuable player than Gibbs because it is so hard to get elite forwards. I wouldn't be happy with the straight swap trade.

He has dominated at every level since a child, he will dominate at this level. If he was traded it would be incredibly dumb, the only way it should happen is if we are forced by GWS.
Gibbs is so overrated, a good player but nothing of the gun status some give him.. Disposal average too..
>::<
I'm only indulging this thread because my procrastination efforts are truly desperate.

Gibbs & a pick for Walker Knights is the trade. The details would be up for negotiation.
I agree with you on the Gibbs bit, but Lachie Henderson and Walker are two very different players. Henderson looks like he's got the workrate (which Walker does lack) but Tex is way more natually gifted as a footballer. Carlton would trade him for Walker in a heartbeat, we certainly wouldn't.
Has Henderson kicked 30 goals in 14 games this year as a 20 year old. Has he kicked 4 goals on Matthew Scarlett? Has he got a rising star nomination for kicking 5 goals in a half of footy? Was he the only player ever to kick over 50 goals in a season as a 17 year old (something not even Kernahan was capable of) in the sanfl/vfl/qafl or similar? If you haver answered yes to any of those questions then come back and tell me Hendo is tracking as well as Walker and will be the equal of or better than Walker.

We've never seen WC, Freo, Adelaide, Sydney, Brissy and Port play because we don't any coverage here in Victoria.

I could cite our Walker kicking a great pass to Hampson on his wrong side and left foot running flat out, yet that doesn't make him as good as Hurley.

Splendini is a good impartial judge.
