Without looking at the stats, Garlett certainly seems to play better when Yarran isn't in the side. I'm not sure how you can be against this trade after some of the trade proposals you have put up before.

Because my trade proposals involve addressing needs in structure while adding depth (not weakening depth).

The example you refer to is my proposal of Gibbs + our 2nd second rounder for Walker and Adelaides 1st rounder.

Without rehashing it again, a (Walker, Henderson, Betts, Yarran, Gartlett + Kruezer resting forward) forward line PLUS adding a player at pick @ 13(ish) serves us better going forward (particularly with the increased depth if we aquire a good young player like Lucas last year with that pick 13) than Gibbs IMO.

Im all for trading one of our three smalls (in Betts, Yarran and Gartlett) in order to address structural issues in the list.

Im just honestly think we are overpaying there. Jeff has some big bagsof goals already and is still a rookie (and skinny).

Add a few years of experience and development, and around 10kgs, and God knows how good he is going to be.

Eddie, Jeff and Yazz offer better skills, pace, creativity and defensive pressure. Robbo offers crash and bash and defensive pressure.

Ratts has stated he would like to see at least Yaz in the midfield in years to come but then he said that about Eddie and that hasn't eventuated.

All three may never have the tank to go midfield for long stints but I'd still keep all of them unless one pipes up and says he wants to be traded.

I would suggest the chances of Hurn getting to us would be slim at best. He's in the best 22 at the Eagles, he's from SA and my opinion is that Carlton won't offer up Eddie, Jeff or Yaz for anyone right now.

I'd be very surprised if the club recently re signs these players and then puts them on the trading block. Surely they are considered part of our future and if the Eagles hadn't already sniffed around regarding at least Yaz and Jeff and been told to take a hike I'd be surprised at that too.

If Ratts can't get his KPD and I'd suggest he would be looking for one that is ready to go, not a draftee that will take two or three years he'll have to stick with what he's got.

Not sure if the club will go that way but here's an old clip and he does a lot of good work across half back. Creative and always uses the ball well, is also the type to turn 50/50s our way.

Yarran looks to be the only one of the three with the skill set to spend prolonged periods up field...if this can be developed quickly then we have a different argument.

In most games I think we would be much better served taking in another specialist mid than an extra small forward. Imagine if that mid could be...err...I dunno...Bryce Gibbs. Bring in a HBF with the kicking skills (Hurn may not be gettable, but he springs to mind as a good example) we so sorely need, let one of the most talented mids in the comp play midfield, and we still have our two tall, two small and one mental Tasmanian forward line.

Won't find anyone more in agreement with this than me. I have this nagging feeling we'll be looking internally again next season though.

Don't know if there are any Hurleys out there that we may draft and could effectively start rnd 1 and the dollars GC can offer experienced players will leave us in their wake with Bock a fairly good indicator.

Aside from any personal opinion I have on which players should or shouldn't be traded to achieve the above I guess our biggest selling points are we're on the up, top notch training facilities, can offer decent coin and the lucky employee gets to play with the great man.

Funny that you mentioned these games in particular because they were all heavily flooded and the disposal into the 50 was noted as being pretty bad in each of these games.

It's a worthy point...to look at a similar player, Malceski's form this year is a strong indication of what is possible in that running, long kicking HBF role. Issue with Drummond may be the history of soft tissue inuries prior to the knee. Risk would prove too great for the cost I would think.
