Perplexes me that he was not carded for this gross distortion of reality

We assume he PM'ed himself based on the IP data given....but hard to prove either way.

He does work in a big office

So how do you take PooMonkeys rumour?

Hounded out of the park, and proved wrong.....but hard to argue he set up the rumour as a troll.

If he has honest and truthful sources, sooner or later they might bear fruit. If you have a string of unreliable sources, you might want to consider getting out of the game, or at the very least, if you have a string of failures, people won't get panicked by what you are posting.

Mods might also close rumour threads from those that have a poor strike rate, rather than treat all rumours with the same respect.

I really want to discourage disingenuous rumour mongering. How we do that, I am not sure, so I am tentatively trying something. How it works depends on whether people cooperate.

Thy made a call before about C4 in relation to Judd. C4 posts a few rumours and I am sure they are not all true in the washup, but the fact that he gets some right, you can put some credence in what he says.

What is a good strike rate for rumours anyway? 25%? As was pointed out, things change.

For example Williams might get the flick from Port and Trengove having settled in and liking the new coach, re-signs. Some rumours we can not say 'FALSE', but merely that it is NO LONGER VIABLE or something like that.

Those rumours don't panic people either. Nothing quite like rumours about key injuries or breaking scandals.

His little PM to himself was dumb though...but that was after the thread had gotten out of control.

So did you help him out as well seeing though you are a personal friend of his

Not involved in his call in any way. I just worked out that I knew him once he started posting in that thread.

I would call him an aquaintence from the past.

@ODN

Someone like PM would most likely only post 1 rumour in his lifetime as it was by chance he says he heard what he did. It didn't "panic" anyone (who is not a drama queen) and now he has no chance to resurrect himself unless he post further rumours (that he will most likely have to make up and predict) and try get some right

The Trengove rumour is one that I came across from a good source.

Wants to come home to Melbourne and is still very much unsettled in Adelaide (and with Williams).

Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and Hawthorn are keen.
"We'll off you Taylor and Dowler for the player who beat Naitanui in a ruck contest last week..."

"Do we have a deal?"

Actually PM posted many rumours on the Drafts & Trading board and quoted 'mates who work around the club' as sources.

Besides, it is often not the rumour itself but the way it is presented. Using words like 'fact', 'will not play', and basically leaving no room for the rumour to be incorrect, can often affect the perception of others.

If it is done once, it will pass. Plenty of people have posted the odd rumour that didn't bear fruit and are not constantly reminded of it. Really it depends on how they conduct themselves in general.

He can resurrect himself by posting quality posts & ensuring that if he does allegedly overhear conversations, he is sure of what he overhears & perhaps does some further research/checking before he actually decides to post what he believes he has overheard.

Personally I think PM should have bided his time & waited to see if Murphy travelled to Perth. If Murphy didn't travel to Perth, no doubt those who attended training the day prior to the game would have come on here asking the question if anyone knew why Murph hadn't travelled to Perth. That then would have been the key for PM to post what he believed he overheard.

To me the thread looked like a set up well before the rumour was scotched.

@ ODN

Fair points

@ Mediumsizered

"To me the thread looked like a set up well before the rumour was scotched. "

*shakes head in disbelief*

Why the paranoia?

Oh really Preservative220, oops sorry I mean Dennis

Dennis said:
Knowing the Poo Monkey for many many years, I can vouch that:

a) he was where he said he was
b) It is a centre frequented by many AFL players (not just Carlton)
c) he heard what he heard

I don't think it is poor form to post this up here. If it wasn't him, it would have been Hutchy!

Irrespective if Murphy plays or not, it doesn't relate to PM's cred. He is just posting what he heard

How's your injury Poo Monkey and if you plan to pop over this weekend, please use the phone and ask rather than some random post on facebook

What's your point?

1) I publicly posted how I changed my alias.
2) After I worked out who he was, I vouched for his integrity. We also caught up on facebook.

It was also documented in that thread that there are no closed rooms in that clinic...they are more like semi open booths

That fact was confirmed by at least one other poster as I recall.

So no office where records are kept (either on computer or in filing cabinets)? How do you know this? Have you been to the clinic in question recently? The plot thickens.

FWIW, you totally missed my point. I am not denying the way the treatment area is set up. I am denying that such information would be broadcast for other patients to hear. Any such information would be conveyed to the player confidentially & possibly in consultation with the club's doctor.

I'm not an employee there. You are starting to get a bit silly.

read the bit about independant people (2 of them) stating that there are cubicles and not rooms

How do we know the doctor isn't a twit and spoke out of turn.

This is now he said / she said....and it's getting rather boring

Either you believe PM heard what he did or you think he is a liar.

I have no reason to think he is a liar. Others may differ

There is a chance Murphy does have OP but still played. Anways isn't this discussion kind of derailing a very good thread idea?

Can we please move on from this & stop derailing ODN's thread.

snap guns ;)

Do you think the club would have risked a player of Murphy's quality and importance if he even had the slightest OP? You were at the game yesterday - how did he move?

Would hope not

Stranger things have happened...Cousins and hamstring, etc

So you can vouch for where an acquaintance from the past is/has been because he told you on Facebook? :o

You wouldn't vouch for the integrity of someone you have known who is accused of lying that you have no reason to believe is lying?

over it..

next rumour please. Let's give this thread a chance

Did not look hampered at all to be honest. Certainly if the OP as reported was severe then no he would not have played. I guess there is a chance they were testing it out to see if he can run through it instead of experimenting with it and maybe going a player down in round 1.
But after training Friday and the game yesterday I certainly don't think he was an injured player

Thought I had better show my face at some point today.

Still stand by what I heard, I did not lie, also told everyone it was a workmate (Purple Hazey) who sent the PM to me as a joke, which worked quite well by the way!

Personally, this is an internet forum, and I really could not give a toss what anybody thinks about me on here........I mean come on really........

In any case, should I come across any other info by any means in the future, I will continue to post it should I consider it in the interest of other CFC supporters to know.

Poo out!

Thanks Guns.
I'll certainly take a keen interest on Murph when he plays on Friday afternoon against Adelaide.
