I have always though his kicking was poor as well also he was a Hawthorn fan not a Collingwood fan when he was growing up.
So why do we want him? Others have said the same thing after seeing his highlight reel. Please Collingwood do not recruit him. Why do we want another defender who is an ordinary kick?!

The draft is meant to be decent at the top end but drops off after that. Seems appropriate to go in with a small number of early picks and then get out, which is what we seem to be doing.

dont base a decision on what your mate says about his kicking....if hine rates him there is a reason for it

Dekker Hine knows a fair bit about him and where he projects him to be.

He was elite in beep tests and time trials. Whilst playing HBF for Heave Ho, he may project as a midfielder and one potentially with tagging capabilities.

I doubt anyone in here knows all that much about him (other than the bloke who played with him) so we might just let Hine do what he thinks best and judge later.

We have been looking to develop some run and carry types with footskills for YEARS, Johnson is OLD, Wellers is GONE, Davis is GONE, Dick is GONE, Buckley is USELESS, Blight (Remember him?) is GONE, Iles and Cox are GONE, Egan(!!) is GONE.. Lokan? Cole? You really have to go all the way back to Lonie before you get to a sucess story for us with his type.

Seriously we have had about as much sucsess with recruiying outside run and carry with footskills as we have had with ruckmen.

Hine is a good recruiter but not great. I would have Wells and Randell ahead of him clearly. Rapt that we have Rendell on board now and listening to recruiters talk it seems this draft will be a weak draft. Wouldn't mind if we traded our 1st rounders as long as we don't trade both of them for Caddy.

Ok - So here's the rumour I heard.

Good source at the club mentioned to me at the Copeland night that he believes Dawes will go. This goes to the realisation that they thought he could perform that role, but his 2011 & 2012 season have definitely changed their opinion of what he is capable of. So they are quite happy to move him on provided they get adequate compensation.

The clincher is the next trade - "apparently" Collingwood are looking to trade Dawes to Melbourne. They have put up Dawes PLUS pick 17 in an attempt to get pick 5 from Melbourne.

We have also been in dealings with Adelaide where the pick 5 will just about guarantee that one Mr Tippett becomes a magpie. Dependant on convincing Tippett that the Westpac Centre is the right place for him to call home. This second bit of trade information has come from a former player. I honestly do not know if he still has ties or information links at the club.

Make of it what you will!

Is Rendell official a Magpie yet?
Or is he not allowed to be announced till start of November since he might be deemed still working for the Crows?

I'd be pretty confident to bet my house that we won't be getting Tippett. It's almost a non-discussion. :)

Pissing myself at every 2nd post "This from someone within Collingwood" or "From a reliable source"........just gets better by the day!

Such a frustrating week trying to sift through the mountain of shit posts and trying to find anything just a little reputable...but I guess that's what rumour week is!

I'm not a fan of Young coming to Collingwood but if he does he needs to play wing or slightly forward of the wing pumping the ball long to Cloke/Lynch. I don't think we can afford to have his pea heart and questionable kick coming out of defensive 50 where a turn over will likely result in an opposition scoring shot.

Happy to see Caddy come to the club but I really dont see him as a must have piece to our puzzle just yet. He's no guarantee to be a superstar so I'm happy to let him slide and keep the high draft pick if that eventuated. Tippett, whilst highly unlikely that he would come to the Pies I must say I would be willing to part with a high draft pick and Dawes for him in some convoluted trade.

We are not that far away from another premiership and i think we have the cattle already but need to refine the skills, attitude & game plan to compete with the top sides. We also need to have a better run with injuries and more depth in our line up......

Definitely one of the more interesting trade periods for the Pies though which is great!

Posting what I had heard. Would be happy to PM you the name of people who divulged the information so your pea brain can continue to "piss yourself".

Hasn't been announced by the club as of yet but it is the worst kept secret. Everyone knows he is working for us.

That would be Western Bulldogs with pick 5 unless there's something I'm missing; they could definitely use a KPF.
Draft order:

1. Greater Western Sydney
2. Greater Western Sydney
3. Greater Western Sydney
4. Melbourne (GWS compensation - Tom Scully)
5. Western Bulldogs
6. Western Bulldogs (GWS compensation - Callan Ward)

Point taken, although slightly off course, but I still think its ridiculous Collingwood has had two genuine ruckman in the last 20 years. Monkhorst.
Jolly.

I dunno, I don't get it. Maybe Collingwood doesn't rate them.

and surprise surprise they were the two periods we won our only 2 premierships of the last 56 years!

Fair to say there is a direct correlation between having a quality ruckman and winning premierships

couple that with the grand finals we lost and who were dominant players against us. it does make you wonder

Outside of Wells and Rendell who would you have ahead of him? I can then take that further and ask who has been better than him (outside of them two) this decade? The only other that stands out to me is Sydney's recruiter who's name unfortunately has escaped me for the moment. Being one of the best 4 recruiters in the land for the better part of a decade makes him great IMO.

We did use our number draft pick on Josh Fraser. At the time he was drafted it was believed that he would become a dominant ruckman.
the only dominant ruckman are the big bodied ones, we seem to go for the string beansfor some reason. fraser, richards, wood etc
i must admit fraser was really good in his first 3 years and i thought we had a potential champ on our hands. but that was snuffed out fairly quickly
