Sorry to disappoint but Broughton was injured, not out of favour. Highly valued, versatile player. I'd say it would take a good quality KP forward to get him IMO.
Anyone think Dawes and pick 17 for pick 4 could happen?
Dess already got jack viney (which they would've had to use pick 3 on if GC bid) plus they got Jesse hogan who is top 5. So I would've thought they have plenty of young guns now. This way it would give them Dawes plus pick 17 & 20.
Or even Dawes + 17&19 for pick 4

I personally wouldn't want to trade three first round picks for one top 5 pick.
Another possibility though would be to trade Dawes, pick 17 and pick 18 for picks 4 and 20.

It's interesting the article in the Hun where a player agent specifically states that Tippett is worth "2 picks between 15 & 20". Gee, who has 2 picks between 15 & 20???
I really like Broughton. However, I think he is only on the table for a KPF. Would take one of our first round picks...and even then I think Lyon is more keen on a ready made player to resolve the forward line issues immediately.
But he is a reliable back pocket who shuts down his opponent...but he also has the capacity to play on the ball.

Can't believe everyones happy about Dawes leaving for pick 20. Melbourne and the Saints traded away earlier picks then that for young unproven kids. If someone wants him that desperately then top 10 pick or Dawesy remains with us which I hope happens

Would love him. Exactly what we need. He can either play the lock down small defender role or can be a ball magnet in the midfield rotation. So versatile.
Cant believe we aren't agressively going after him.

Yeah, the Young one will likely sort itself out before the Dawes one as it seems many of the potential trades are complicated by waiting on the AFL's assessment of free agency compensation due on Friday.

Yeah, you wouldn't think it would hurt their depth too much, but he has an 'improved offer' from them, so they apparently want to keep him. Would be a handy addition for us, given his skills and experience, but let's see what happens. What kind of TAFE course are you 'rumoured' to want to do, Dave?

He is a very good user of the footy and pretty good decision maker.
Would add to our side coming off half back/wing.
Not sure id part with any of our first round selections though. In fact, I wouldn't.
Pick 39 I'd offer but that may be a reach.

I wont be surprised if both the Young deal (if it comes off) and the Dawes trade wont happen until after Friday, when FA compo picks are dished out.
We'll be watching with interest what the Demons get for Moloney (possible end of 1st round compo) in the hope we can manage an additional swap of picks**. I'd guess that losing Rivers and gaining Brynes will cancel each other out compo wise.
I still think pick 20 is a reasonable deal though.
Off the back of that, I think we may need to ensure we've got the cap space to sign Young by trading Dawes.
