If I was Dawes and they did that to me, the last thing I would want is to do best whats for the club that is getting rid of me.

That's why, if this happened, Walshy would be suggesting it to Dawes' manager rather than Dawes directly. Surely his manager would have the good sense to advise his client not to "cut off his nose to spite his face". That's why players have managers, to take the emotion out of the hard nosed negotiating.

I just think in the meeting he had with the club and the club told him his game time would be limited and it would be best for him to seek a trade. As an outsider to me it seems that the club is very keen on trading Dawes. The way Walsh and Hine spoke before Dawes actually nominated a club was as if he is 100% getting traded. Real poor from the club imo. I think it was Hine or Walsh that said, once we trade Wellingham and Dawes we should be about done and that was 2 weeks ago. I don't know why they want to get rid of him that fast.

Assuming the club didn't want to keep Dawes - how could they have handled this situation better?

Now Walsh is acting tough and saying it's our call. I have no doubt that if Melbourne offered pick 20 and it's last day of the trade period, Walsh would do that deal 100%

Agreed.

If you know that to be a fact, why haven't you called Crimestoppers to report it?
Hahaha, I agree lol. A few news outlets reported that a few weeks ago. Don't know how factual it is but it could be true and if it is he has to be the most over payed player in the history of the game. Would be very disappointed if it's true.

Terry Wallace said that David Rodan would be a good fit for the Pies. I agree with him and would love to have Rodan at the Pies. Maybe he could play the super sub role.
No more mini-men i.e. players under 182cm. Rodan does not have the capacity to see through a game which explains the 'sub' reccommendation. We should adopt a revolving door style policy - a mini player in, a mini player out. Also, no more rucks till we have got rid of two of our current stock, including $300000 man Wood.

Matty Campbell (Roos) up for grabs. Bit of pace, pressure and finishing? I'd take him before Roberton for a 3rd round pick personally
He will be delisted after trade period hence why he is looking for a new home.

front runner of the highest order wouldnt want campbell playing in any final's games for us.

Bit of a lose cannon also isnt he!

Doesn't interest me 1 bit.

Yeah, he's a pretty loose cannon for sure.
I was lucky enough to snag some footage of the incident at Crown involving a car:

Yes, I have that much time of my hands...

has there been any talk about defensive players. We seem to be trading around the forwards and ruck but we lost Tarrant and while the backs have been good they haven't had a stand out year. Keeffe will come back but what about depth - I'd hate to see Goldsack go back into the backline. Love to have a Leon kicking in for us again.

We have Hartley coming through, who shows at least some promise, in addition to Keeffe, and both of them are depth if Brown and Reid are healthy anyway, so I think we're okay in that area. When Keeffe was playing, he was our fourth string key defender, remember - He was only playing in defense while TWO out of Reid, Tarrant and Brown were missing.

Hartley needs to to step up and be a fourth string, and Keeffe can take his time playing in back to form in the VFL while acting as a backup for Reid and Brown.

As far as other defenders, I would like to remind everyone of Collingwood's forgotten man - Marley Williams. He'd played himself into our best 22 when he went down hurt, but he'll be back and providing depth for the team next year.

He's contracted for 2 years, same as Dawes. He won't be getting delisted. Not for us though IMO.

With #45 now ours, I expect we'll look at Roberton. We might have agreed to a deal including #45 before the compo picks were made known simply because Freo agreed to trade him for that pick. We'll see.

In Hine we trust...?
Or would you like to make a play for a player/s from other clubs? Tippett being just the most mentioned.
Any suggestions on ready-made players we might trade for [with Young, of course, being a separate story].
