Hartley will be given plenty of time to develop.

He is very much in the Presti mould and when I've seen him play he looks very much like Michael Jamison.

No need to write him off so quickly.

Walsh said we are done and dusted..............at the way we are recruiting i think he meant we are gone next year !

We just traded a key forward.
We are in trouble with the ruck division.
We have speed
We may recruit youngsters in the draft that will take 4 years to come on.
We have no depth

Yep great signs ahead

Leave it walsh and co they know what they aare doing!

Perhaps u do us all a favour and go buy a carlscum membership

I will be very suprised if either Yagmoor or Hartley will still be on our list in 3 years time.

Yagmoor plays like a scared little mouse without a defensive bone in his body and Hartley plays like a pre-teen school girl.

Hartley has a future for mine.

Yagmoor I'd cut this year if it were up to me.

ok....that was good. Now think up 5 unrelated sentences starting with "They".

LOL. Over-hyped rip-off of an 80's song, the high point being the highly original "horse riding" dance step made famous by 6 year old boys since the early 1800's?

I don't see the hate for Travis bloke. I agree with most of what he said. I would much rather the Sydney approach of topping up then going in to the draft and taking the risk. Trading away good solid players for high first round picks is silly especially at the stage we are with out premiership window open.

I think Buckley wants to recruit players that he sees will suit his game plan more. Wouldn't surprise me if we traded another 1 or 2 premiership players next season as well. Too me this shows me that Buckley doesn't think we can win the flag with this group.

To me it shows Buckley is emptying the weak links in the chain in order to make the team stronger.

i agree with your first bit and hopefully your second bit is wrong, or if buckley does believe that hopefully he is proven wrong.

Hang on, but isn't that what we have done previously, i.e. given up 1st round picks to top up? Much as you are suggesting for Sydney... I agreed at the time, but we have not won a flag for 2 years, and we are now behind the top teams, so I think that we are doing the right thing. Right now we need to look at more than just next year (and we needed to rejuvinate our list for next year anyway). My glasses are certainly not rose-tinted, but enough of this "sky is falling" bull shite.

Buckley will be thinking and planning to win the 2013 premiership, we can gaurentee that.

For a perfectionist, anything less than the premiership (especially when we have a strong list) is a failure.

Buckley isn't the list manager and its not really up to him regarding list manager issues, all though no doubt he has an input. Its hard for some people to fathom, but the senior coach isn't at the top of the chain, other people take over in regards to list management and bucks will focus on strategy and development

Wow two players want to walk out on the club and you see it as failure on the coach's part.

There's just no reasoning with that type of logic.

Why do you think it is that Dawes and Wellingham have suddenly become god like footballers and the difference between a run at the flag or being an alsorand?

Chris Dawes in 2012 was in the last 2 or 3 picked every week. If Keeffe hadn't gone down with injury Dawes would have been lucky to play 15-16 games. As for Wellingham Walshe's backhander on the way out summed it up perfectly yes he's talented, but consistency might as well be a word from a foreign language to him!

Losing an inconsistent midfielder who was 7th or 8th in line and a KPF that can't mark overhead won't make a difference in the slightest.

Lol dog some people love to bitch, some hate Buck's guts, others adore Mick and yet others have their own agendas to be followed. It's just another little issue for the disaffected and discontented to hang their hats on.

Errr, Dawes is a forward, Keeffe plays defence.

Dawes missed the match against the Lions and Keeffe was forced up the field to replace him due to both Brown and Reid playing down back. It's a situation that could have played out regularly towards the end of the year because Keeffe, Brown and Reid is to tall.

The concerning thing for Dawes was that as you said Keeffe is a natural backmen yet he arguably performed as well that week as Dawes did through most of the year. I for one would have backed him in to match Dawes' woeful output in the second half of the season. He also would have provided added flexibility if we were struggling down back.

Most or all couldn’t wait to get Dawes out of this side... I for one hoped and hoped but nothing came with him.. we could have kept him and it would have probably ended up like Fraser (always hoped and sometimes showed promise) we all know what happen with him??? Pick 20 & 45 could potential give us a star.. so let’s wait and see... for me glad to see Pies do something early rather than too late.. the way he was playing he wouldn't have been worth a 4th round pick in 2 years...

Wellingham, well played about 3 or 4 good games this year, but disposal, effort, attitude and the fact he hung around Hawthorn scum makes me think that he was an individual Muppet.. so we got pick 17 and I reckon a star will come from that....

So I think a good strong, bold move with a short term & long term look about it... should enjoy the draft a lot more see year.. and when we roll out those early picks, wont we all be filled with optimism !!!

re:keeffe, it could be suggested that in 2011 he was thrown to the wolves, asked to play the traditional forward role for any lanky type, even tho his VFL experience had been down back. into 2012 and his defensive work came to the fore, supporting a sometimes sore reid and recovering n.brown. and he did that beautifully. and confidently. and that final point i think is the key. he is now a confident player who has earned his place. THAT could then be the reason he goes forward, simply because now he is confident.
we cant afford to have reid, brown & keeffe all down back, and all things considered, keeffe might be the one to be tried forward first. if however an opponent has a resting ruckman in the 200cm plus mould, IMO keeffe is the designated defender every time.

since travis BLOKE joined i always thought he was a troll and a carlton supporter

Sorry to disappoint you blazey, but i have probably been on this board longer than quite a few here.

I use to be under Daics Cousin, but had to change my name

No definately not a carlton troll .I hate the b........ds

There is one carlton connection though .I have 2 famous cousins one played for Collingwood and the other played for carlton. His name was Ange christou.Funnily enough Ange use to be a collingwood supporter before he joined carlton. There's some trivia for you.

Aside from that please donot ever associate me with Carlton again!
