That is what I'm saying IF the club were indeed after Hickey then it shows a lack of faith in both Cegs and Witts as they are the same age grp/exp, why not let them debut and see how they go just as big a gamble as Hickey.

Correct. No problem in getting plenty of gametime into Ceglar and Witts this year.

But we still need Wood as the immediate option for Jolly.

Other options (Keefe Lynch Gault) are part timers.

No one internally has confirmed any interest in Hickey in fact they went out of their way to quash it on Thursday last week. It's just come from a Facebook account that only mentioned it as a what if based on the fact we have currency, may need a ruckman and that even though we ruled ourselves out of more trading we then signed Young as a free agent.

It's crap and how it's gained legs has got me stumped just like Roberton and Pedersen before him....

Don't mean to be argumentative but I don't see how that has anything to do with increasing the Swans midfield rotations? The rucks arent exactly going to rotate with a midfielder it just means they will share the ruck/forward/bench role between themselves e.g.

Mumford 60% ruck 20% bench 10% forward
Pyke 30% ruck 30% forward 40% bench
Tippett 80% forward 10% ruck 10% bench

The above splits are debatable but i dont see how it impacts the midfield rotations?

This year they used 5 players to cover the ruck and tall forward roles -2 rucks + 3 tall forwards (LRT, Goodes and Reid.)

With Tippet, I'd expect them to only use 4 - 1 ruck + Tippet + 2 other tall forwards. This creates an extra spot for a running player or to use Goodes as a wingman, if his knee is ok. ergo one extra midfielder in their 21.

IMO anyone who would reject an established young player, be they an immediate walk up start in our mid rotation, or a KPF or KPD, cos they believe they arent worth 'two late first round picks', they need a lobotomy.

to get 5-10 years out of a parker/reid type, when our club is so much within its premiership window, is a yes yes yes yes yes.

I thought that you were the "mail man?"
Indeed I am. Just checking if anyone else has heard any little whispers. The mail will not be delivered until Thursday at the very earliest. We are just going to have to sit tight until then. Bits and pieces of the puzzle will be revealed as we go though. This is going to take some nutting out from all parties invovled.

Collingwood will meet with Gold Coast this morning regarding Tom Hickey now that it appears the saints have cooled interest in the young ruckmen.

It's understood that the pies have offered their pick 21 in the first round for Hickey.

Guys, if you want a good laugh to brighten up your day go and check out the Blues rumour file.

Some classic stuff in there. My personal favourite is the Warnock to Saints for pick 11 deal.

No wonder they've been quiet during the trade period, they'd get laughed out of the room if they put up some of the trade ideas their supporters are throwing up.

You all do know that Tom Hickey is code for Gary Ablett who is expected to sign a 3 year deal with Collingwood in exchange for draft picks 19 & 21. Hine has stated that he is reluctant to part with pick 18 with the Gold Coast folding after threats were initially made to include Cameron Wood within the package. It is expected that the Contract will see Gary Ablett play for around $25,000 for the 1st 2 Seasons with match payments of up to $100 a game depending on performance. It is estimated that the final remaining year of his Contract is worth around $3 million dollars but Gary Pert says he's happy to tank the third season due to the club being on a high after back to back premierships. Dane Swan was last seen in Mexico gone in a puff of smoke!

Please Walshy don't undo all the good work we have done during trade period with a move like this.

Yes Wood is not the answer and yes we need a back up ruckman but we don't need another Wood clone which is what Hickey is. We need a big bodied proven ruckman for 2 - 3 years until Witts / Ceglar or Gault take over.

Why o why do we not rate Stephan Martin???

I'd rather pick up Martin or Pederson for a pack of twisties than Hickey for a 1st rounder.

Tippet is a quality forward and will play significantly more minutes than Pyke plays.
I suspect Tippet will play as well as Pike not instead of Pike. It just means a different structure up forward and probably means LRT plays as a permanent back.

"It is understood" is always a great way to lead into a sentence.

Here's a more accurate one though. We have NFI so we're just going to make something up about Collingwood to keep their supporters reading our crap, who knows we may even be able to suck in a few of the more gullible ones.....

Thank you.

If we could get Sam Reid for Picks 17 & 18 I take it! He will be a star of the game in the future, already a premiership player and would be playing with his brother. The forward line would go from being a hinder in 2012 to a massive key in 2013.

In saying that I really do think that this rumour is BS. Why would Sydney want Tippett who is older than Reid but Reid looks to be a better player anyway?

C'mon Skips give us something to work with. I will settle for even the slightest cryptic clue!

Ok well the people who had seen Sam Reid at Lexus Centre are mistaking it for a Lexus dealership. He was at Lexus of Brighton about a week and a half ago with Ben buying a car before they went off to Thailand. Little clue for you all is that other clubs are like horny little men trying to flock around hookers. They are trying to get them and will only be able to get any of them at the right price. At this stage we have money in our cap and are ready to rock n roll in some deals come the next 72 hours. Skips always delivering something for the people. I am the people's poster!!!!

Its really nice to see so many Collingwood fans concerned with the state of the Swans forward line and our ruck setup :p

Didn't you know? You just won a flag. Therefore you are the new measuring stick.
Not Hawks, not Cats, not Pies. Enjoy it......all will be quiet again soon.
