Harry is only 26 and has several years of football ahead of him. Where else is he going to find a job that gives him a public platform from which to pontificate on the world's woes? I think he will stay.

sylvia or give martin from our vfl team a good crack at it being younger than sylvia.
garlett for didak, im ok with that making us faster:)
wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall in derek hines office.
if sheedy makes gws trade with essendank for a first round pick to help them out, its all a big joke!

I know, hopefully he goes and frees our salary!
Nah I disagree, he does alot for the club financially off the field like Thommos13 membership, his marketing value is amazing. Happy for him to stay as long as we don't pay overs for him but if goes then I guess there is not much you can do but we will have the cash to sign up all the new blokes at least.

Think about it, we have kmart yet to make an impact, josh Thomas is coming along VERY well, marley will move into the middle when toovs comes in.
Our cap will free up and we can maybe get another inside mid, or possibly a small defender.

We have a good midfield, but we are lacking a bit of speed in there. Ball, Beams, Pendlebury and Sidebottom are slow. Josh Thomas and Swan have good take off speed but I wouldn't call JT a linebreaker and Swan is nearing 30. Blair is also slowish.

Daisy was the speed and excitement to the midfield. He is also a more aggressive tackler than all bar Luke Ball and defensively works hard. Also a better capacity to play as a forward than any of those names above.

He gives our midfield the missing link.

Obviously, if he has lost that explosive speed, then his value drops. He was playing decent footy this year before he injured the ankle again but it was off half back. His only value is if he can re-establish himself as a forward/midfielder.

We'd get someone good with pick 13, so its not all doom and gloom if we lost him.

I just think many underestimate what he adds to the side and what we'd be letting go.

You can also count on him in big games. That tackle in the prelim final against Hawthorn in the dying minutes got us into a GF. He willed himself to do that despite suffering from injuries that year as well.

A lot comes down to medical opinion. We need to be confident he can get back to his best before offering him big dollars.

Surely though the preference still has to be getting him right and securing him. If we can't, then we move on and make the most of our pick.

THe beauty of this situation is that we can put the onus back onto Daisy. We are now in a win/win. If you go then we get a good pick and salary cap. If you stay then we are also very happy. Therefore, its up to Daisy if he wants to play for our club and is willing to earn a bit less to do so.

I wouldn't blame a decision to leave, but let's hope he is sensible and stays black and white.

Great post Dave86.

Daisey actually spreads from the contest as well. His gut running was huge in 10/11.

Would just like to think that after barely playing for 2 seasons a player would think he owes the club something. Unfortunately it doesn't work out that way.

rubbish surely there skint?
Very odd if true.

As you've said their cap would be very close to full.

If they lose Franklin, that frees up space but taking Daisy will remove the 1st round pick compo they'd get for Franklin.

I'd think they'd look at bringing in a young inside mid to replace Sewell and Mitchell very soon with that 1st round compo pick. Like a Taylor Adams from GWS.

Great post
From a VERY reliable source on the Hawks board, and you'd be shocked if you found out who he really is, is that Taylor Adams has nominated Hawks as his preferred option
Every time a player comes out of contract, he's linked with us
So far we've had Adams, Cooney, Mumford, Longer, now Thomas
It's good to be popular I guess, just like you guys in trade rumors every year!
Best of luck in the finals!

Well if you guys have Taylor Adams, I doubt you would be after Daisy

God I hope your right! :thumbsu:

Just because Adams has supposedly nominated us doesn't mean we will get him
Still have to do a suitable trade with GWS
Here's hoping!

I don't know how to feel about that... I don't want Daisy to go to you, but I don't want you to get Adams either! :D

Wouldn't be shocked if you got Adams though, you guys seem to have a habit of getting your man these days. :thumbsu:

Yeah, we've done well recently ( ever since Pelchen left and Graham Wright took over ) one of your old boys! :thumbsu:
Getting a suitable trade done is the hard part, so not sure if we end up with him, but from the source on our board it's a chance!
