Im still failing to see how we can afford Tippett.

He would need to pay him upwards of 800k, which is more than Travis got, to pry him away from a QLD based club, particularly GC.

Im not sure if im comfortable with the potential locker room issues this would create, given we went through a year of turmoil with Travis to 'under pay' him, then all of a sudden through 800+ at a lesser player whilst losing premiership players.

Like how everyone expected Trav to remain loyal and stay but are pretty quick to give Dawes and Wellingham the boot. I understand footy is a business but you can't have it both ways. Especially considering Dawes took less money to remain with the club a few years ago. Just get Lynch and Dawes can go back to FF where he can actually play well.

This is what has been posted on the free agency facebook page just recently

The 3 way deal that's been spoken about regarding Kurt Tippet and Adelaide, Collingwood and West Coast is as follows.

West Coast will trade their first round pick, pick 17 to Collingwood in exchange for Sharrod Wellingham.

Collingwood would then on trade pick 17 received from West Coast and their first pick in the draft which is pick 18 and Chris Dawes to Adelaide, in exchange for Kurt Tippett.

Collingwood legally can fit in Tippett into their salary cap, given the pending delisting of several players, and aided by the departure of others plus the 5 players who will be listed as veterans next season.

The AFL does investigate each clubs salary cap operations before the end of each season, and at the start of the new season.

Hang on 17,18 and Dawes

Big mistake to get Tippett i agree he is one head smash away from retiremet.Wrong move collingwood.

Get MALONEY AND SALOPEK for peanuts.

Trade Wellingham to freo....ask for Griffths the ruckman or trade wellingham to West Coast ask west coast for their first round pick plus Koby Stevens .We on trade west coast first round pick to GWS for Gioles or to Gold coast for caddy.

I do not approve of this trade for Tippett whilst giving him 800k.

It looks to me that we won't make any moves this week. For some free agency moves like Goddard and Knights there is no need to worry about trades to accommodate however it looks more than likely that if we want to wait on players like Giles and Tippett then we must wait and see how trades pan out before deciding on Lynch.

I guess the appearance of inaction this week highlights the increased chance of action from next Monday however

Well at the moment looks like you could be Correct and we may see what we could get in Trade Month. But you won't think Lynch would wait that Long

Tippett just walked out on the Crows

Yeah, but its not going to happen, forget about it. Not only is it fanciful but it would actually be a mistake too. You can't pay 1.6 million a year for two key position forwards for the next 3 years and expect to have enough talent everyone else on the field. I'm sure Collingwood know that too.

So Wellingham, Dawes and our first pick for Tippett? No Deal!
Swap Dawes with wood then maybe? Still not sure whether we should trade both picks. I would like us to somehow get a first rounder with pace.
Keep in mind that there were question marks over Tippett in the finals series.
Gws are keen on mark blake. pick 18 for Giles might get the deal done. Would be happy to throw in wood as well for some salary cap relief- even if we have to pay half of it for this year.

Giles, lynch, Dawes and pick 17 (wellingham)
Or
Tippet and lynch? (without Dawes and picks 17 and 18)

I'd go with option 1

As tasty as getting someone like Tippett sounds, I think there are better options out there IF WE HAVE that kind of money up our sleeve. If we're getting rid of Dawes and playing Tippett in a similar role, it's only really a slight upgrade.

I'd rather we keep Dawes at home inside 50 and get a dedicated ruck like GILES or Clarke to give Jolly a helping hand.

Tippett is not what we need but if Walker was up for trade then he is what we need.

Walker and Cloke yes .I still reckon its a ploy to throw carlton off tippett cos they targeted cloke.

Would like to see Tippet & Cloke play in the same side. My concern would be more around upsetting the apple cart in terms of players taking potentially less money to stay at the club to become pretty p**sed off seeing a new player come in and demand $700k+, I know I'd be banging on Bucks door with a 'please explain'. As others have posted, it sounds more like a ploy to bump up the value, pushing other clubs out of the race.
Believe Collingwood would be negligent if they didn't take a serious look at any top player who becomes available.

If we have a spare 800k lying around, why didnt we go after Goddard to play off half back to squash our kicking issues from the back line?

Tippett wont be a Pie.
