On Lynch's signing at the bottom it had this written -
Sharrod Wellingham, meanwhile, is considered highly likely to move back to Western Australia.
West Coast and Fremantle both believed to be keen despite a hefty price of $450,000 a season.
The Dockers could send ruckman Jonathan Griffin to Collingwood in exchange for Wellingham.
First ive heard at all anything about Griffen being a chance - any interest?
I would want more then Griffen

No Griffren

Clarke pls.

Even with lynch now how many 'bit' ruckman do we want? (especially with the Peterson rumours as well).
IMHO Clarke is overrated by a lot of Freo fans - I live in Perth so see a lot of him. For the guy who's meant to be 80% forward he lacks mobility, cant mark particularly well and seems to have the turning circle of a truck.

As a ruckman he's a fantastic mobile ruckman but how many of them dominate finals? its always the 'Gorrilla rucks' who really dominate finals (Mumford -was okay, Ottens - Gun in finals, Jolly - IMO should have been norm, Hell even when hawks won it they had Robbie Campbell being a beast!)

Just thinking we need a stop gap in case Witts or Ceglar go the way of every other ruck we've developed since Monkey and a NUMBER 1 ruck not a tweener

Royal Sampler: If you are referring to Pederson, my mail is he isn't being let go for merely a third-rounder.
Great that prices us well out of the market!

Anyone that plays just 2 senior games in a season (and 16 at VFL level) at the age of 25 as a mature age recruit is not worthy of a second round selection. Good luck to the Roos if they get it! However if it comes from Collingwood now that we've secured Lynch I'll be mad as a cut snake.

Its just excessive unless Dawes is moved on and if given the choice I'd be 100% behind Dawes over Pedersen.

Agree with the Addition of Lynch we don't have to overpay a bit to get a Peterson Type

I'm open to trading Dawes, Wellingham for picks
So am I but we won't get the picks I'd want. For those 2 I'd want almost guranteed hits. A top 5 and a top 10 pick which noone will give up. Otherwise we may as wellstick with the list than can win flags over the next 5 years.

NEVER EVER give up flags now for the future unless it is a bloody good future AND you can/will still win flags now.

If we get two first rounders for Dawes and Wellingham that will leave us with 3 first rounders and some salary cap room. If Dawes decided to join Melbourne , then we are going to have a big week in trade week.

Won't happen though.

According to the Free Agency FB page (which is pretty unreliable to be honest) Pies and Adelaide are now front runners for Jon Giles.

I wouldn't mind him, watched him quite a bit for DT/SC purposes this year and he can go forward and take a mark, whilst his ruck work is pretty good. Would put pressure on Lynch/Dawes to perform, wouldn't be the worst acquisition.

All this love for Pederson....o_O
Can some please explain to me which of Brown, Reid, Maxwell, Keeffe, Dawes, Lynch & Cloke he will get a senior game before?
We'd be getting him for insurance - All of those guys might play senior footy together next year, which means that if just one of them gets injured, it could leave a hole in the lineup that Pederson could fill.

I wouldn't think pursuing him would mean that we were guaranteeing him senior footy, but he'd be higher in the pecking order for us than he is at North.

Mark Stevens from the herald sun has stated just now that West Coast and Fremantle are only Lukewarm on Sharrod Wellingham and he will sign either with Collingwood or Melbourne

Personally, I hope they do take him.... Got an abundance of his type and we'd be able to focus on filling some deficiencies with the cap opened up with him leaving.

As long as we get a first rounder for him. Anything less than that, and I would want to keep him.

Any chance we can keep Wellers and swap Cameron Wood to someone for 2 sand bags?

Wellingham is an absolute gun who has not reached his potential yet.

Not sure why everyone is so keen to trade wellingham for pick 17. If that Pick 17 is getting used for a guy like Tippett then I understand you have to give something up to get something good.

I also understand if we are freeing up some salary cap room to make a play on a few players.

However, we still have pick 18 and should get something good...and Wellingham is still a quality player.

I think he has played out of his favoured position all year and should go back to playing as a tagging midfielder. He adds something different to our midfield as well because he is quite quick and clean in close traffic. Has a great side step and marks well above his head.

He is only worth a pick 17, but I think his value to us is above that.

I don't think we need to rush out and trade him. I would prefer he stayed. If there is good players on the market then so be it...he is one I'd be willing to part with.

Please explain?
I'd argue his value to us is far less than his value to other teams due to our abundance of players like him.

If we can get #17 and #18 then we have serious leverage to get a player like Hurn during trade period and/or get a seriously good player in the mould of a Jetta/Rioli type.

We keep Wellingham, we pay him $400k+, we have yet another inside/outside mid (Beams, Blair, Pendles, Swan, Elliot, D.Thomas, J.Thomas etc etc) and we still have obvious deficiencies in other areas.

Is it just me or do some people on this board seriously overrate Sharrod??

If it was Sharrod for Hurn, I wouldn't even blink before pulling the trigger!!!!

It's a matter of point of view really, Wellers has speed to go with agility he's genuinely quick so in that respect yes he is different to the rest of our mids but agreed on Hurn.

I don't really think he utilises his speed to break lines though.
If we had the chance to trade Wellingham for a player like Jetta or Hurn, we would be stupid not to.

It's nothing against Sharrod.... I think he's a great player and seems like a genuinely nice guy but it's all about making our "team" as good as possible and I think losing Sharrod may be what it takes to get the leverage we need.
