At the moment I'm leaning towards letting Wellers and Dawes go. Wellers can be easily replaced due to the number of players similar and if it's possible to get a first rounder for Dawes after the year he has then it should be done.

Dawes & second rounder for Gysberts and first rounder? Would that be fair?

Wellingham straight swap for pick 17?

I think that during the delisted free agency period early November/draft we could pick up a mature KPF for a season before Cegs and Paine come along?

Listening to his manager, sounds like Dawes is "upset" a little that he wasn't really given a strong guarantee by Pies on his playing future. He is now exploring his options.

I don't think he will remain a Pies player post trade week.

I'm ******* over managers!
Boo hoo Dawes...have a cry cause there is some competition about now Lynch has arrived.
Collingwood must have someone else in mind to Play the 3rd tall/2nd ruck next season if they are happy to trade Dawes. Maybe Keeffe?
Lynch is our 2nd ruckman now.
If Dawes leaves then or forward line will look like this:
FF: Elliot (or Didak if he doesn't retire) - Lynch - Paine or Macaffer or Goldsack
HF: Blair - Cloke - Krakouer

I have to say this comment from a neutral observer works for me:

'Now that they have Lynch, Collingwood would surely be laughing their heads off at other clubs wanting Dawes and presumably being prepared to give them something decent for him, especially with Paine, Keefe and Witts coming through and Dawes leaving giving them salary cap relief.'

Of course, it would have to be a decent offer to make it worthwhile. It doesn't hurt that several teams need a power forward, and IMHO he doesn't have a very high ceiling as a marking forward. Quality clubman, but as others have said, why wouldn't he take it as good for him that Lynch is coming to help [or compete for that matter].

The only thing that upsets me is that Dawesy did the right thing by us last season and took unders to stay and 12 months on we really aren't repaying his show of faith and loyalty.

I just hope this doesn't send a bad message to the rest of our playing group.

Hopefully Wellingham stays now.

That scenario doesn't help us in the slightest.
Get Lynch but lose Dawes.....pointless unless they have someone else in mind....

Unless Walshy's comment about Tippett....was smoke and mirrors?

I reckon that he's probably been told that even if he doesn't leave our forward line will look something like that.

true
But we also backed Dawes when his form was woeful.
That dropped sitter was the straw. I remember Bucks slightly shaking his head in the coaches box.
Dawes backed us, we backed Dawes, but it wasn't to be.

interesting listening to Dawes manager on Trade Week radio right now. Happy at Collingwood but will explore options due to Lynch coming in.
Boo ******* hoo Chris.

If you play to your potential, like you did 2 years ago, you're a walk up starter.

Play like a chump, then we will shop you to cellar dweller like Melbourne and the Dogs.

The point is that Lynch is a more dangerous forward and a better number 2 ruck than Dawes, thus we've improved our team and we'll also get something in return for Dawes. I see it as a double win.

Collingwood if they trade Dawes, either having something up their sleeves or are expecting Paine to have an increased role

He took unders to stay, which we appreciated, but is his 2012 form worth the contract he signed, even if it was less than market?

Dawes has nothing to complain about.

Why? It will be the same format as this year but with a player who can mark the ball when he is forward and kick a goal AND get more than 3 hitouts per game.

Well it kinda does...

Get Lynch for free, get compensated for losing Dawes. Bring Paine in to play forward full-time.
